First off, thanks so much for posting this. Saved me a lot of trouble I'm sure. I just wanted to follow up with the scam I found myself in which seemed very close to what all of you have described. Instead of a Macbook this was for an apartment in Chicago on craigslist.

The man (Greg Martkens is what he went by) had a place in the downtown area of Chicago for a very reasonable price. He said his wife and him recently moved to London because of his job as a civil engineer and would not be back for at least 4 years. For the most part it seemed legitimate until he used the same exact phrase that everyone seems to be posting:

Since at this moment I'm in London, United Kingdom and obviously we need a safe way to complete this deal.The solution is a worldwide third party company called CLICKANDBUY (www.clickandbuy.com) ,they will provide assistance in handling the payment and delivery of the rental package.

he explained that he would send the keys and a contract to clickandbuy and they would contact me and ask me to send $800. They would then send me the keys etc. so I could check the apartment out and then if I didn't like it they would send me the money back and soon as they received the keys. (fishy I think so)

I right away said I wasn't interested after doing some research. He came back with an email saying he had had an account with clickandbuy for years and it was 100% protected. He sent me a "clickandbuy" email to get the transaction started even though I had said no thank you. I clicked on the email just for kicks and it was a link to a site called clickandbuy-ca.com much like many of you had been reporting.

Just wanted to put that out there for anyone who runs into the same situation. Thanks again for the posts on this forum page!

This is word for word from my e-mail reply from this same add on Craigslist of a 2 bedroom apartment for rent in Scarborough Ontario.
Before I sent any money I contacted a realator and asked if this is something they have ever heard of. I forward the e-mail and I was told that this sounds like FRAUD and never to send cash money!!!!!
Please beware, this site has saved me $710.00.

You will only have to deposit to ClickandBuy the first month of rent from contract 940CAD$ so they can proceed with the shipping, and you can receive the rental package (keys and documents). These two are likely the same person, and also the same as the guy some of you dealt with. If these people spent a fraction of their time doing something constructive, rather than scamming people, they could easily make an honest living .

There should be a specific area on craigslist for posting scams. That would keep people aware and may deter the thieves.

I replied to an add for an apartment in Kingston, Ontario that was just posted on Craig's list. I wasn't suspicious until I received a second e-mail involving this "click and buy". That's when I went on line and found this site. After reading your story I saw that my e-mails from this guy, a Jim Volners, are almost word for word!!!! He does use a legit address for an apartment building. I did tell him that I was going to the building to check things out so I will be interested as to what his next reply is. If this is the same guy, and it sure sounds like it, then how do we report him? Not everyone may take the time to check these things out and end up being defrauded. I have also pasted his replay to my e-mails and as you can see it must be from the same guy. Thanks for saving me from wasting anymore time on this jerk.

It was a gorgeous waterfront apartment for $750 CA, everything included. I noticed a similar post regarding an apartment in both Kingston ON, and Kamloops BC. The e-mails that are shown, I received the exact same with the exception of price and place. However, I did go as far as saying I was ready to look at the apartment and I received the following e-mail;

This triggered me to research ClickandBuy and within seconds of typing it into Google, the second search that came up was "ClickandBuy Scam". I looked into it further which led me to this site, where I found the exact e-mails that people were posting that I was receiving. Since receiving the above e-mail, I replied and questioned the guy on the secureness of the site and if there was an alternative method of viewing the apartment and that this has potential to be a scam. I have not heard a response since which leads me to believe that this is a scam. Just an FYI, I came across another listing in the Barrie area with the Nautica apartments with price at $810. I have also found results that this is a scam as well.

I hope I have helped with my post? and saved someone from going through with this despicable crime.
