Husky Puppy scam from Cameroon; we escaped!

I just wanted to start by thanking you for this resource of information you're providing, your website being here saved me my money just this morning.

Myself and my girlfriend just recently moved into an apartment. We're both looking to get more active in our lifestyle and figured a high-energy puppy, such as a Siberian Husky, was just the ticket to get us out from in front of the game console. =) I've owned a Husky before so I thought it was a great plan. My girlfriend went about the process of researching local shelters and rescues online, and then moved to Craigslist and other postings to see what was available.

We spotted a listing for two Siberian Huskies, with full pedigrees and AKC registration, that the owner couldn't keep anymore and would part with for the cost of shipping.

Our first few e-mails discerned that the owner was in Washington State. Now, I like to consider myself fairly savvy on scams, I've seen through many offers in the past, but I guess this time around both me and my girl fell for the picture, and we wanted little Ottis bad enough, my train of thought was "If I wanted a AKC Registered Husky for cheaper than $290 I'd have to take him at gunpoint."

So we sent a few more e-mails, and My girlfriend, <removed>, gets an e-mail requesting her to make payment via Western Union to a company registered in Cameroon. That set her alarm bells ringing, but a defensive e-mail from the owner assured us that it was "only the headquarters for the shipping agency."

We continued with the deal, and tell them to hold off for a few days while we wait for a paycheck to come in and our finances to stabilize. A few days later, we sent them an e-mail saying we were still interested and would be able to cough up the cash on Thursday or Friday.

Wednesday morning my phone lights up with a Yahoo-to-SMS message with Joe Harts on the other end, the owner of the puppies. Joe was very aggressive in his messages, not at all adept with the English language, and let me know that he had registered the puppy for shipment and the agency would need the money.

The pieces were starting to fall into place, <removed> jumped on her e-mail and squared away the issue of timing, receiving an assurance that the Puppy would be cared for at the shipping agency's vet office (?!) until such a time as we could send the payment.

Fast forward to this morning, and we're standing at the Western Union counter, with <removed> filling out the form to send our $290. When I note for a second time that the Country was Cameroon, I decided to reduce my typical American ignorance by a small factor and Google "Cameroon" to figure out exactly where it is. Wait, Africa? Now my radar pinged.

I had <removed> continue to fill out the form while I went back to the trusty Google. Googling "Siberian Husky pup for sale Cameroon" immediately rolled in several scam warning websites, with threads from you guys here right at the top of the list. I pulled down a few threads to show to <removed>, and the e-mails were so similar that we tore up the sheet right then and walked.

Thanks guys, you saved me a lot of heartache.

More so, the reason why you are paying the 125$ is because we are not ready to sell the puppy and you are paying just for the ownership document from my names to your names. it will also me nice and great if you send me the money via western union if ok i will send you my payment information to send me the 125$ and note that this is legit as i am %100 sure that the puppy will be transported and delivered to your home same day .

You will be available during regular business hours for telephone calls from the pet department at the airport and will respond to voice mail and email promptly.i don't know what else i can say but...

I hope for the sake of others that people are wise enough to research something when they realize somthing is "up". I understand that these scams occur on a regular basis, however I dont not think that your actions will go unpunished. I would advise you stop blaspheming in your emails, as this can be very much hurtful and offensive to many people. If you're wasting people's time for a buck that's just fine, but do not portray a christian person as you are not. I regret being taken even this far on your ride of lies, but look forward to advertising our emails. Education of people (and I use the term loosely) like you, is the first step to forcing your type to actually have to work for a living.

I also went searching for a husky and came across many many ads on www.pennysaverusa.com for husky puppys. Almost every ad i replied to sent back an email from cameroon even tho they were claiming to be in cities close to me ... ex:. San Antonio, Austin ... The people i talked to claimed to be "evangelist's" and "christians" and claimed they were horribly offended when i asked them to reassure me this was no scam.

They were asking for $150 for re-locating fees ... another asked for $140 for shipping fee. All were hesitant when i asked for their names and airports close to them. They were claiming to be from St. Helena Cameroon and kept insisting how concerned they were with the loving home their pups would get. After me asking about the cost .... Because to ship a dog over seas costs at least $1500 and goes up to $5500 ... and why it was so low they got hostile telling me how tired they were of me asking questions and accusing them of being dishonest. So i googled and found that Cameroon is the top spot for scams and immediately told them i hope they get whats coming to them and i hope they are arrested for scamming people. And heard no more from them after that.

I would like to post the emails they sent from so that anyone else seeing these emails can be re-assured it is indeed a scam.

All are pretty much saying the same thing as the email stated above. How they need the money for shipping. or for relocating or for change of ownership documents. Hoping this helps someone else who is in mid-scam to realize its too good to be true.

Luckily i got out in time. Sadly i was really looking forward to getting a husky ... for the pictures they sent were beautiful beautiful puppies. Sad but true it was all a scam. remember the site www.pennysaverusa.com cause this is where every ad i replied to got me.

I have emailed about five different people about Husky Puppies and every time they were from Cameroon, and I was very suspicious. I look up "Husky Puppy Cameroon Scam" on google and I found this. I replied to the people and told them what terrible people they were and they responded with this!

when i asked how would i know this was not a scam she got really offensive and stated she was a christian and she would never do anything like that and how do i accuse her that she would do something like that! that should of been my white flag, but since im a very trusting person i felt bad and went on with the process.

i paid the 140 for exchange of ownership, she then replied that cindy was checked and at the airport, i get an email from animal airline stating i need to pay $875 for pet insurance, this seemed a little skeptical, because the owner never stated i had to pay insurance. i get a call i could barely understand stating i had to pay in 24hrs or i would be charged with abandonment and animal abuse, i said i do not have the funds as of right now. they stated that they could keep the puppy at their facility until i had the funds. so i still had a funny feeling in my stomach about this so i found this site, and OMG thank you sooo much for rescuing me from doing the dumbest thing ever!!

I have been emailing a girl who has offered me pedigree kittens for free i thought
