Simplyelectronics.net
I attempted to purchase a EOS 1D camera from this company in Jan 2-1- for £2200. After a long decision making process I ordered the camera and the money went out of my account on 26th. I received an email to say my order was on hold and that they needed further proof on identity, copies of my card, utility bill and optional to help would be driving license and passport. My bank advised me to not to enter into any further transactions. I cancelled the order and then took another month before getting my money back after I had engaged Trading standards to work on my behalf. I have research many forums and sites to find very similar and other horror stories. Several said after using this company their accounts received very odd transactions. Nothing though is written up on this company so others can find the truth about them. Just what are they doing? Are they just unprofessional? incompetent? or what? They use fulfillment companies, money-bookers and mailboxes etc to do all the doggy work, so they avoid any direct customer contact. There refund system at times appears to be slow or even non existence. Can anyone help me and others in trying to understand just what is there motive? They were a limited company here in UK until Jan 2010. I have started a web site http://simplyelectronicsnot.webs.com and also www.youtube.co.uk/simplyelectronicsNOT has several useful video tutorials about this company. Apologies for a long winded posting, many thanks for reading. Rod Smith

DO NOT PURCHASE FROM SIMPLYELECTRONICS
I ordered a camera from this company a month ago because thay stated it was in stock and that delivery took two to five days. I wanted the camera for an event I was attending. Of course nothing has been delivered yet. i have contacted them numerous times and receive long winded emails asking me to have patience but little else. I have cancelled the order both by phone and by email on 3 occasions but it seems they can neither fill my order or cancel it. they are infuriating to deal with and I would strongly advise not to purchase any items from them.

Grey Imports
I got a lens from them (Tamron AF70-300) which went wrong at 6months and took 2 months to repair (with the wrong lens sent to me , and twice sent to the wrong address. It has failed again after 15 months (13 if you count the 2 I could not use it for). I have since found out that the reason for the in house warranty is because they are imports. Under EU law if they were genuine UK lens they would come with a EU warranty card. I am now left with a lens which is US, and no come back on Simply, they just do not want to know

Grey Import
Received Nikon D3100 from this company after waiting and getting fobbed off with delivery times. Asked whether it was a UK model, "yes" they said. Wrong, I received a Japanese import that doesn't qualify for the Nikon Cashback as their website states it only applies to Nikon UK! Additionally, they'd opened the box and supplied a crude japanese-UK travel adapter for the charger and photocopied manual. When switching on the camera it was set to Japanese, and i had to figure out how to change it to english!. The Website and Item are purposely mis-leading. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!

Absolutely the worst online retailer
Absolutely the worst experience I ever had with an online retailer. The camera lens I purchased for $425 stopped working when it was under warranty, I shipped it to them for repair and now they refuse to return the fixed item!
This is unbelievable!

AVOID AT ALL COST
I cannot believe that people are still being 'stung' by Simply Electronics. I had an equally bad experience 2 years ago and they have only refunded me after I sent them a solicitors letter threatening legal action. Needless to say I never received the goods. I would never consider buying from abroad (grey imports) and until I delved into this company they gave the impression that they were UK based. THEY ARE NOT. Previous reviewers who went to their UK address found it to be a private address with a guy who handled their mail but knew nothing of their business and complained they had not paid him either.
Grey imports do not carry a uk guarantee, purchasers are also liable for import duty and VAT so could end up paying more for their gear!! Always check out terms and conditions of retailers prior to purchase, that should tell you where they are based.

Avoid!
I wish I'd read this page before I made my order with Simply Electronics!
My son wanted an Ipod for his birthday, and after researching the net I found this site was the cheapest, supposedly EU-based, and promising quick delivery "ships within 1-2 business days". And just to be sure I called them, and got a quick reply from a gentleman who said there were no problems with stock and that the company was in the UK.
So I made the order, and paid.... And then the waiting started!
As I said, it was for a birthday, so I was hoping for a quick delivery. After 3 days I sent a message to inquire about the dispatch status, but it was only after 7 days that they replied that there were "delays in shipping" due to an "influx of orders" (I'm guessing these messages are standard ones that everybody gets?). 2 days later I got fed up with waiting (the birthday was approaching!) so tried to call them - the waiting time on the phone was estimated at over 30 minutes (!!), so I cancelled the order. I got the confirmation of the cancellation 2 days later, and did what I should have done in the first place and ordered with Amazon!!
However, the reimbursement still hadn't arrived 2 weeks later! I was concerned, so sent a message and got a very polite reply 2 days later claiming they were "chasing up" the "accounts department".
Then I waited another week before sending another reminder, and I got another reply about "speeding up the refunds process". It finally took a further 2 increasingly irate messages and in all 7 weeks to finally get the reimbursement!
So in conclusion it seems that the site is at least honest enough to reimburse a cancelled order, but the quality of service is shockingly bad! Be warned!!!

seem ok to me
I have purchased gear from this company a number of times and never had a problem.
They have sent the warranties needed for servicing ,genuine manufacturers and in some cases 3rd party international warranties depending on the product.
delivery has been prompt and the goods have always arrived as described so I am not sure what the fuss is about considering there are some genuine fraudulant sites on the internet right here in Australia that just seem to run ponzy schemes with out any reports by consumers

Like many people here assumed that this company was UK based and placed an order for a Canon L series lens - about £200 cheaper than all the other camera stores. Order went through ok and then asked to provide further verification - ie copy of passport/ driving license and utility bill. Really not happy about providing this sort of documentation to a third party I have never dealt with before. Decided to cancel the order and ask for the payment to be refunded to my card. Then advised that I must still give these additional documents to proceed with the refund. Eventually they did refund my card without having to provide this additional documentation. I bought the lens from Jocobs Digital in town - more expensive but have peace of mind about the transaction and if anything goes wrong, there is a chap I can talk to about my problem in person. Just feel there is something iffy about this company and despite the money you might save, you are better off buying from a known UK supplier in person or on the net

I ordered a DSLR from SimplyElectronics on the 15th Oct, then having Googled it and found the mass of information and poor reviews I swiftly rung up and cancelled the order (who told me to email someone to cancel and gave the address). I managed to do this before it was dispatched thankfully, but it has taken almost a month and about 5 emails to actually get money back into my bank account.
From what I've read, things do show up and refunds are given after some hassling and waiting, but nothing is CE marked and comes with no warranty. Things are shipped HK so chances of lens etc being damaged is quite high.
In the end I went to Currys to buy the camera in person, bit touch and go getting the refund but did come eventually.
Online shopping sucks.

Awful delivery time
Ordered a Nokia e6 from the site, 2 weeks ago when they had 8 phones on stock and i´m still waiting for it to get delivered. In what concerns costumer support they just deliver generic messages who don´t really help when you do the inquiries. Thinking of canceling the order.

The 'Proof Of Quality' is absolutely worthless to customers who have bad experiences. It does not guarantee in an way shape or form that a company will *not* rip you off or mess you about. Coupling that with the fact that the office address is in Hong Kong means that the company can jerk anyone around, and customers will be unable to mount any litigation due to the huge costs involved.

Simply Electronics Ltd is registered in July 2007, but it claimed "Simply Electronics Ltd is the culmination of 10 years experience in the consumer electronics market with 5 years experience in selling mass market products to the online community"
Do not understand how can this company develop so faster than normal year, today is just 2012.

No, the domain registration is protected by a privacy service. Try reading the domain whois and doing more research on the website.
The website 'About' page clearly states that they are based in Hong Kong, did you read it? The address of the company is displayed via the previously spammed commercial company that was deleted from the posts above. Simply look under the PayPal logo on the website. It's an easy find.

Hi,
I was lured by their low prices. Bought an Archos tablet. It took a while to get to me (4 weeks) but did arrive. I used it for about 20 hours and it broke. Volume button was broken inside the casing and constantly suppressing the contact prohibiting "power on". I returned the item 4 weeks ago. They have said that I will get a new one, they have taken their time but ensured me I will get it this week. My experience so far is that they do deliver within their extremely long ETAs. I am a little concerned whether the item is a fake though? It seemed flimsy?
