Hi, I'm not totally clear what help you are asking for, but this is what I have found out.

"Sarawak Hidro" is a company owned by the Malaysian government involved in the construction of dams. However, the person who you have been in touch with may have been mis-using the company's name.

The phone number you provided is a Malaysian mobile phone. It seems strange to me that a government company would conduct business by mobile phone.

I've had a quick search on the internet for a genuine contact number for Sarawak Hidro, but had no success so far. If you can find a genuine number (e.g. from a government website) you could call them to find out whether the offer was genuine or not.

I'll have another look later on today.

Hello kavitha_raman2002 and welcome to FraudWatchers.

As Goz has said, the number given is a mobile number located in Malaysia. There is no such company as Sarawak Hidro Supply Limited, or even Sarawak Hydro Supply Limited. This in itself is very strange. A division of the government, "Sarawak Hidro" does however, exist.

I have not been able to find any reference to a Mr. "Mayialvanan" or even derivatives of this name that relates to Sarawak Hydro.

You mention:

Visas can only be obtained via the embassy of that country, and there are certain criteria that must be met. Fees for such visas paid through "agents" are unacceptable and any such documentation for visas must be done "in person" at the respective embassy.

This indicates a lot of suspicion on my part, and I can only suggest that this is not what it seems to be. I would urge you to take all your email and other correspondence to your local police station for them to confirm, also it may be prudent to contact the Malaysian embassy directly, again showing them your correspondence. They will be able to tell you whether this is genuine or not (I suspect the latter).

I hope this helps.

I couldn't find any Internet link to "sarawak electricity power limited". The name "sarawak electricity power limited" isn't good English, so I think that either you've given us the wrong name, or more likely, it is a fraud.

There are a couple of real companies with similar names:

Sarawak Electricity Supply Corporation has a web site at www.sesco.com.my (it wouldn't open for me... perhaps they have server problems???).

Sarawak Hidro
Quote:
Sarawak Hidro Sdn. Bhd.
Level 6, Block F
Kompleks Kerajaan Bukit Perdana
Jalan Dato' Onn
50480 Kuala Lumpur
Tel: 603-2698-8320
If you think that the company you're trying to deal with is either Sarawak Hidro Sdn. Bhd. or Sarawak Electricity Supply Corporation then I suggest you contact them independently of "Mr. Mayialvanan" -- find their phone number in the phone book or on the Internet. Then contact them and ask if they have a "Mr. Mayialvanan" working for them.
