That, I'm afraid is the last you will see of the money. It is gone for ever.

Note however, that you *may* be approached by someone in email that claims to be able to retrieve the money lost to the scammer. DO NOT fall for this, as it is simply another scam being run by the same people, or theiir friends. We call this a "Money Recovery Scam", and they will ask for a fee in advance.

Note also, that now your girlfriend is known to be a paying victim, she will start to recieve many more offers of pets, or other assorted advance fee fraud offers.

Please tell her to be exceedingly cautious and not to respond to any of them at all.

Thanks for sharing.

Thumbs down ANTHONY BUMMEL PUPPY SCAM!

Hi Everyone,
I've been looking for an english bulldog puppy, last week I came across an add of a family leaving to Australia who couldn't take their puppy with them and I fell for the puppy, they sent me pictures of "Mandy", 10 weeks old, female, etc... we exchanged several e-mails and they told me they'd fly the pupy over to the country I live in, the whole deal would cost me 575euros... the pet was vaccinated, wormed, had a micro-chip and a KC certificate (pedigree). Everything looked well until they sent me the payment details and I thought I'd google it coz I was not sure of how secure the transaction could be. And I found this website where I found the name of the guy on one of the posts from Blonde. THANKS SO MUCH!!!!! The name of the guy is Anthony Bummel, the woman who e-mailed me is named Jodie and her e-mail is rollmtpups@hotmail.co.uk. They've told me I had to use Western Union to transfer the money, they gave the following details:

ANTHONY BUMMEL
Colville Place, London,
W1T 2BN
Tel: 07031895629

I haven't tried the phone number, and I don't plan to do so, but beware of these scammers, and good luck!!!!!!!

Jaabu

Interesting, I'm begining to think Jaabu is very scammer friendly. I have reguarly been posting warnings, and am now blacklisted form posting. Changed e-mail addresses last night, got blacklisted again. The scammers keep posting away. Plus, the administration won't answer my e-mails.

If y'all have a moment, you might want to wander over there and post warnings to innocents perusing the animal forums.

It's been around since 2005, although the site looks fairly new so it may be a domain ownership change. It's a Czechoslovakian registration, and absolutely no contact information on the website apart from a single email. Being Czech, no law applies, so complants or threats of legal action will probably end up in the byte bin, and nothing can be done.

I'd say a very new classifieds site, that will eventually become an advertisement farm. As for the goods advertised, I'd say very low quality and mostly scams. The operator doesn't care, eventually the ads he'll place on the site will gve him the income he's after.

It's up to the operators as to how they run their sites; it doesn't take long for the internet public to know which sites to avoid. This one, it seems, may become such a site, considering that by not responding to emails and complaints, the site owner cares little, if anything, about the people both using and visiting the website. And since he's virtually untouchable, the only thing to do is to ensure you don't go there or use it.

Looking at http://pets.jaabu.com/dog/ , just on the first page, out of 14, there's at least 8 definite scam postings and a few more possible scams.

on http://pets.jaabu.com/bird/ theres also a bunch of scam postings, all claiming to be in the U.S., but with indicators that they are in fact Cameroon pet scammer's add.

I'd say avoid www.jaabu.com altogether or risk dealing with scammers.

I have also run an investigation on a page full of Pet adverts two weeks ago. Out of 20 emails I sent out, 18 came back with a response and ALL 18 were Cameroon/Nigerian based scammers.

Scammers tend to migrate to systems where the abuse reporting system is badly implemented or fails completely. I told Microsoft the exact same thing back in 2004/5 during a large campaign to report the "Personal Address" domains. After a sustained number of months the number of scammers abusing the system whent from thousands to a mere fraction. Scammers get to to know quickly what systems not to touch. Now they have a replacement "Office Live" which is just as bad (if not worse) than "Personal Addresses" and scammers are once again flocking in to abuse it.

Jaabu will fair no better if they continue to be ignorant of the abuse that they are helping to promote through inaction.

As far as I'm aware (though forgive me if I'm wrong on certain aspects), MoneyGram and Western Union operate along very similar principles, in that their "agencies" are franchises. Therefore, it opens up distinct avenues of possibility regarding how thorough the identity checks are of the people picking up cash transfers.

Please read this thread about Western Union.

Basically, it may be possible with MoneyGram franchises (as has been reported with Western Union) that a) it can be picked up at any outlet in the world if they have "visibility" of the transfer, and b) as with Western Union, maybe the franchise owner/clerk/shop assistant could look the other way for a percentage of the cash receved/bribe/threat etc.

Animovers

Something happend to me today and nearly skipped a heartbeat, the email you posted earlier about animovers are a scam. Did you look on the internet about dogs or cats u wanted to buy of the interenet? On tuesday i was looking on the internet trying to find a breeder that will sell me a teacup maltese and come across a breeder named BECKY CHRITIE on the sun local, I emailed her and asked her a couple of questions she emailed me back instantly and said:

Hello and thank you for the reply, We have 4 maltese puppies left a
female and three males , Nelly is the name of the lone female , we are
a small family that breeds maltese puppies and we are based in Belfast
but have our breeding house in 2 miles away from home .
We give out one of our puppies for £300 EXCLUDING shipping and home
delivery, because we offer those services on extra cost, if you are
able to come and pick any of our maltese puppies Up then you have to
call us to schedule a meeting with you other wise we will ship and
deliver any of these puppies to your house for extra cost.
We bring-up our puppies like part of a family so they are very use
to kids and other dogs even cats , firstly you have to answer these
questions below for reff.

-have you got kids?if so do they like dogs?

-Who shall stay home with the puppy while you are out for
work?
-do you guarantee me that the puppy will be in good hands?and if
so would you be prepared to send pictures of her to me
?
-Do you have a yard or a place were he or she could play
around?

-Where are you located in England?

I will be parting with any of them with a crate, papers and some toys,
Please let me know asap if you are interested , i am willing to go
any extra mile just to make sure that these puppies goes to the right
home, sending her over is nothing to me i am willing to ship for £110
including home delivery , For pictures and our contact address please
contact our gotpets family website on
www.blinkmaltese.gotpetsonline.com

I went ahead with it and emailed her back saying I wanted one and as soon i said that I got another email through from the 'animovers company' saying that Iv got a male maltese on its way. I had to give them £210 by money gram! I went ahead went to post office got money gram form filled it in payed the post office and went home next thing I know she sent me an email saying the transaction couldnt go through because there was a mistake and that i had to go back to the post office and sort it back out. Luckily the post office i went to had made a mistake by not putting my name on the senders and receivers only did I know when the post office called oney gram international saying it had all been a scam!! I got my money back in the end only just otherwise I would have lost it! The downfall is they have my email address, home and mobile number plus home address so i don't know what they could do with that. But I would advise anyone who wants to buy any pet online to make sure they don't pay anyone till the pet is your hands.

Can anyone tell me what would happen with my email address, home address, home and mobile phone number?

CAMEROON BRANCH

Iv just sent out a couple of emails to people about teacup maltese puppies and this is what i got back. Is this a scam.

Hello
I am called Jordan Allyson.I am a man of 54 years old.
i the Project Director of the UNO REHABILITATION PROGRAM here in West Africa. I just came from Switzerland 5 days ago.I am a man from Switzerland.I came here in west Africa
3 days ago with my birds.i am a lover of birds.i came with three pairs, but to my greatest disappointment, i did realized that the climate here is different from ours in Switzerland. It is very hot here.
It doesn't favor my birds .
I was advised by Rev Zuma Linkenge, who is a south African that,South Africa is having a favorable climate similar to that of Europa. And it is the only nearby country having that type of climate that will favor my birds.
I was forced to place it in Gumtree.
I am not actually selling my birds but looking for that home only in south Africa, that will spoil them with extreme love and care.Because my dream is for my birds to find a lovely home again.I have no option because my course here is roughly 10 months and i can,t let them stay here in this unfair climate.
I am pleading only if you can provide a loving home for one.Because i do not want one of my baby's to enter a rough home.I am presently in the Victoria Island in Cameroon. Please i will only grant one to you if only you will bear with my by sending me photos and updating me about the birds wellbeing.
I am really in tears giving them out.
They are all well domesticated.Potty and home trained. They love playing with children and other pets.
They will come with their vaccination calenders and food that can last with them up till 3 days.
They are very interesting.Gorgeous and welcoming. You will really enjoy them. They are so special.
So i will like to know if you desire a male or a female.Or if you want a pair,do indicate.
they all have similar characteristics.
you can call me by dialing 0023774082964.
the earlier you do the better because people are scrambling for them, but i do extreme screening before handing my puppy.
thanks and waiting to hear from you.
