User has been an eBay member since: May 29th 2008. Not very long at all. The website is just a collection of pictures and information, no prices, no indication that the user is actually authorized to accept credit cards.

Data on the domain name may initially indicates that it was registered (after a previous expiration) on February 18th, 2006 and is registered until 2009. This is a good point as it is beyond the normal minumal period of 1 or 2 years for scam sites.

Public registration details for the domain:
Quote:
Dan Phillips
Texas One Wireless Inc.
10101 Harwin, Suite 290
Houston, Texas
77036
US
+1.8329674131
info\at/texaswireless.net
The address is a private mailbox so it could be absolutely anyone and is quite anonymous.

If they are asking for credit card details, you should be able to find out what their merchant details are and actually check that with the real provider. You may need to do this through your own credit card company due to privacy regulations that may be in force. (Anyone have ideas on this?)

However, I have checked Texas State records and located the company record. The company was registered in 1991 so has been around a while. The details match the domain registration info too.

Whether you can trust the person/business is down to your own due dilligence, but paying by credit card DIRECTLY, offers protection against fraud. Find out from your credit card company exactly how you are covered. If the worst happens they would claw back the cash and refund you. But do check FIRST. Wire Transfer should be going to a corporate/business account not a personal one, and your bank may be able to offer protection too. Check with them also.

Based on the information above, I am concerned that the company has been around since 1991 but a website in their name only appears in 2006 and an eBay profile appears in 2008. It doesn't feel right to me.

In the end, if the price of the item you are attempting to purchase is TOO LOW, then you will probably not get what you have asked for.

Be careful.

I second John's warning, this site doesn't feel right to me either. It may be the genuine Texas One Wireless registered in 1991, or an impostor using the details from the Texas State registration. It's not to difficult to do.

texaswireless.net doesn't show any address, just (713) 774-6060
That phone number is currently listed to Texas One Wireless however the listing has no address which may be intentional.

Furthermore, (713) 774-6060 was used by a business called Harwin Video
That business is no longer listed in the phone directories which indicates either they changed name, or they are out of business and their number was re-assigned. Either way, it indicates that (713) 774-6060 has been assigned recently to Texas One Wireless, which is another red flag since they are supposed to be in business since 1991.

Our History & Company Overview

Thanks for stopping by our site and your interest in doing business with us. You will find our dedicated staff ready to assist you with all of your electronics questions and needs. Founded in 1991 and based in Houston, Texas, Texas One Wireless is one of the leading electronics wholesale distributors in the United States with plans to open offices in Europe in early 2009. We have a solid reputation with our customers for fast delivery, high-quality products and accurate service. In addition, we only partner with reputable manufacturers and suppliers, so we have confidence in the products we sell. It is our belief that the success of our company is due to our unbeatable prices and the fact that we continue to build our company, one satisfied customer at a time, a standard that was set over 16 years ago. Take a look at the great line of products we carry. Once you decide on the items you want, contact us and let our experienced staff make you a Texas One Wireless satisfied customer.
Has been in business for 17 years, and claims to be "one of the leading electronics wholesale distributors in the United States", and furthermore plans to expand into Europe, yet no web presence and no address mentioned on their web site. No prices or details on payment method which means that all price requests, transactions and payment method have to be discussed by phone or e-mail, hardly efficient for a company of the stature they claim to be. In fact, highly unlikely since that would entail needless extra expense in manpower. In such a highly competitive market, such an inefficient business wouldn't last long which is why most are equipped with listed prices and a shopping cart.

I'll repeat John's advice...do a proper due diligence before purchasing or risk getting scammed.

Due diligence should be based on sources other than from the individual you are investigating.

Here's a legitimate business that's based at the same address, just a couple of doors down from Suite 290, and they are also listed in the online phone directories.

It would be more productive to give them a call and inquire about who's in Suite 290.

Thank you my friend !

I have succed in talking with the people from the website but i couldn`t talked because all lines were busy.
At mails they responded and last one sounded like this :

"We can send samples but you will have to pay regular price."

So if anyone could risk a few houndred dolars to check theyre qulaity it would be nice

How is that going to prove anything? They send you a sample at regular price so it doesn't cost them anything, and they then scam you when you order a bulk lot.

Some victims have lost thousands of dollars falling for that trick with a very similar USA merchant: wholesale-wholesale.com which turned out to be a scam. They also accepted credit cards and bank transfers. The bank transfers are where they ripped most people off. Click here for more details
http://www.fraudwatchers.org/forums/...ad.php?t=14925

Tomorrow Monday during working hours, you should call the number I suggested. Texas time zone is about GMT -6 or -7

And don't get in the classic victim mode where you want to believe it so bad that you simply take chances. Personally, it looks more and more like a scam.

Good intel, that at least gives an indication that have a business account at the bank, which is a good point.

The only way to know with 100% conviction as to whether anyone is a scammer is to do business with them, I doubt anyone reading this thread would be willing to take the risk on anything above a 'sample' order. I know I would not.

The bank will not tell you anything at all about a customer, that's an invasion of privacy that would have to be backed up with a court order. Phoning them up will get you a larger phone bill, nothing more.

Poirot is on the right track with his previous posts, and if the alleged perp is actually watching this thread, he will know exactly what to do to make an order look legit. That's assuming he's a crook, which we are no nearer finding out. We need his customers to come forward, especially anyone who has been mistreated.

I still stand by my ealier post however, it still doesn't feel right to me.
