An example of various fees demanded by these criminals:

- $150 for registration.
They will assure you that this is the only fee you have to pay. Then once you paid, they will find an excuse and come back with a demand for:

- $650 for a fake medical certificate.
They will assure you that this is the last fee you have to pay. Then once you paid, they will find an excuse and come back with a demand for:

- $1000 for a fake Anti-Terrorist certificate.
They will assure you that this is the last fee you have to pay. Then once you paid, they will find an excuse and come back with a demand for:

- $550 for fake attorney fees.
They will assure you that this is the last fee you have to pay. Then once you paid, they will find an excuse and come back with a demand for:

- $295 for delivering a parcel containing the fake visa.
They will assure you that this is the last fee you have to pay. Then once you paid, they will find an excuse and come back with a demand for a new fee. It only ends when you stop paying.


All these job scams have something in common between them such as a name, a telephone number or email address, or even photos used on their web sites. So they are all various versions of the same scam. We know that at least some emails have come from I.P. address 213.154.89.30 which is registered in Senegal and 216.147.159.98 registered in Guinea-Bissau, though most surely they have members in other countries. Some of these where running in the Fall of 2005 and have all but disappeared or have been removed from various sites. These are currently very active: CFWRP, CIWRA, GREP and CFWRPA and have web sites running, CFWRPA with it's own domain name.

I can't find any reference to a PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL TALENTS SCOUT ORGANIZATION even though they claim they are "affiliated to numerous top professional football clubs in Europe, Asia and America." without naming any of them of course.

A victim has sent us this material on the CFWRP so that we may publicize it, for which we are very grateful. It includes an email from three addresses complete with full headers, along with some forms one of which was a blank visa application from the Canadian Government.

This program (CFWRP) does not exist in Canada. It is a total fabrication of Nigerian criminals for the purpose of an Advance Fee Fraud, (419 scam).

To summarize the CFWRP (Canadian Foreign Workers Recruitment Program) job scam: A fraudulent Canadian job recruitment program directed from Nigeria which requires you to pay various fees via a Western Union transfer to Guinée in West Africa.

This first email shows the bait aspect of the scam. The original contact can be through various Internet sources including chat and dating sites. They also use email spam. The purpose being of developing a personal contact, be it love, friendship, religious etc.., and using it to built trust or love interest which is then exploited to prod you to pay the fees.

The email below (From a Nigerian i.p.) request $150 a registration fee. What it doesn't tell you is that once you pay it, they will come back with a request for a larger processing fee. You pay that and they will come back with a another fee still larger. Typical advance fee fraud.

They attached a real Visa application form from the Canadian government to the above email (From a Nigerian i.p.). This form requests a lot of personal information including all your passport details. Considering that the previous form requested your passport photo, this is very disturbing.. You should never fill such a form to be sent to anyone except a Canadian government office. Especially not to a stranger in a West African country. If you already have, you will have to take steps to avoid having your identity stolen.

I also received similar fraudulent e-mails about job offers in Canada. Fortunately, I was suspicious and did some net searching about scams and came across your website. It has helped me realize that it is a big scam. Hence I did not fall for this scam. many thanks to your excellent website.

Dear people of fraudwatch, I recieved an invite on Myspace.com, and after a day of investigating I can upon your post here. After realizing that this is a scam, I went to to appear to comply with the emails and answered all of them, funny though is that on the 2nd email the person started talking with "my dear" and "I cant wait to see" you etc. Funnier even is that everytime the tone and grammar are different in each email.

Unfortunately, these criminals are in West Africa, using free webmail email addresses, mobile phones, and Western Union money transfer. All anonymous.

I was about to be capitulated by this friendly email from a girl called Christy White asking me to contact a mail id which belongs to Richard Linwood .... I had the brains to check out on the net for such scams and lot of thanks for the people who have posted useful info of these scams. I have copied below the message....
