Lottery Frauds Typically, a false email sent that tells the recipient they have won a sum of money in a lottery.

Be aware of a lottery SCAM that is currently being circulated as an unsolicited e-mail worldwide.

If you receive an e-mail titled “CALIFORNIA SUPER JACKPOT MEGA LOTTO PLUS,” please understand that this e-mail is not generated by the California Lottery® and is not authorized, sanctioned, or in any way related to the operation of the California Lottery. The e-mail may suggest that you have won a prize, and ask you to contact a designated Account Representative for processing and transfer of prize money into an ONLINE BANK, or a COURIER COMPANY.

DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS SCAM. Scams such as this one have been around for years, but this is the first time any such e-mail has represented itself as being related in some way to the California Lottery®. The California Lottery® never sends unsolicited e-mails, and never transacts any business through e-mail.

PLEASE CONTACT YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT IF YOU OR SOMEBODY YOU KNOW HAS BEEN VICTIMIZED BY THIS OR RELATED CRIMES
