i was almost scamed yesterday. i recieved a phone call from a shipping agency WORLD WIDE PET SHIPPERS BRANCH FLORIDA (fake) telling me to check my email. i wasnt home at the time and i didnt have a computer near me. i told the person( who has a really strong accent) if i could get back to him later because 1. i didnt have a com puter and 2. i couldnt understand what he was saying. he started giving me attitude and telling me to check my email because supposebly my golden retriever puppy was already in san josh and the only way i could get her was to pay first. i found it strange since earlier that morning i recieved an email from the seller saying that she was only going to register her for delivery.
i also found wierd that the seller lived in san francisco and then all of the sudden she was in florida for 4 months. her add was posted on oodle.com

hello lural. its nice to hear from you. My family and i have been looking for a golden puppy for a while now and like you said they are a bit pricey. I found the fraudulent ad on a respectable horse site that I've used before with no problems (equinehits.com) in the Friesian horse ads. I had done an advanced search so I did not see the multiple ads for the horse. If I had seen that I would've known it was a scam right away.

I went back and browsed through the ads when I knew I'd been scammed and the horse was listed for sale in 9 states. And there are several other Friesian horses for sale in multiple states. I've sent an email to Equine Hits to let them know about this and hopefully they will do something and remove the ads.

My horse I'd had for 14 years passed suddenly late last year so I just this week started looking for one to take her spot and contacted the seller. She was very enthusiastic about the horse and gave him a lot of praise, but we all like to do that in the horse world. She even knew the terminology. She sent pictures and even questioned me the way I would to someone I didn't know but wanted to be sure they knew what they were doing, so I really thought she was the real deal.

I know she played on my emotions and I should've been more cautious, but I just couldn't step back from the excitement that comes with a new horse to love. I've always gotten horses locally, so I was in way over my head with dealing in transport. The seller seemed genuine and set up the transport service.

First came the reservation deposit, then the insurance because the horse couldn't fly without it. (They give you a certificate which lists a real insurance company, VPI Pet Insurance, as who is insuring the horse. I called VPI Pet Insurance and they said they'd never heard of Ideal Pet Movers and that they did not insure horses.)

I'd been in contact with customer service, who assured me the horse was doing well and they were hand-walking him everyday. The day they received my insurance money they called me at work and said the horse wasn't doing too well and they wanted to give him shots to make him strong for the trip. When I got home there was the insurance certificate in my Inbox and also this email message:

Also, sometimes vaccines can cause colic or swelling or abscesses so if a horse is all ready sick you don't just shoot them up with tons of vaccines, you diagnose and then treat the illness. They refused to transfer me to their vet and refused to actually tell me a diagnosis.

The two most likely causes of sickness would be colic or laminitis (foundering), and none of these listed are used to treat either of those. So, I hope there aren't non-horse people out there sending more money because they don't know this. So by the time I was done going over this list and arguing with customer service, I knew they couldn't be for real. Then I called my equine vet and discussed the email with her and she said I was being scammed.

I then sent an email to the seller telling her I don't buy sick horses and she wrote back that I'd made her depressed and sad and that she would pay for vaccines. I told her again that I didn't want the horse and that I would be filing a crime report with the authorities. She hasn't responded so I hope she's done bothering me.

I placed and ad on Kijiji for a mini schnauzer and boldly stated that it was for me and my three kids and I hooked a scammer, clearly I was dissapointed and mad at the sametime and I got the sob story that Tina (the puppy) was stranded at the airport because she couldn't be taken into...you probably guessed it Cameroon!! I also found another person trying to scam , but there was no story, he just went straight for the money and yet again using cameroon!! rosalinekelly55@yahoo.com claimed to be from Coplay, PA and scotterscobbish@yahoo.com claimed to be from Atlanta, GA!! I admit at first I thought (rosaline) might be legit until I started searching Pet scams and realized that I too could have been a victim, when I like most, want a family pet and can't afford high breed prices, but mostly to be ripped off!! I got all the way to the point where i provided the person the address to ship to (luckily I was smart enough not to provide my home address, but my secured work address as I was uncomfortable from the start) and my cell phone number. I was in constat communication with this person via email as I wanted to surprise my husband for fathers day. Then when I got the conformation email that the person had registered the puppy and now they just needed a payment from me a huge red flag went off. They required payment via Western Union (any legitmate company would be able to process a payment on line, usually payment would be requested after the puppy was recieved...) also the grammar in the email was off. Words were left out of sentences, spelling was wrong. I know my spelling is bad sometimes, but an actual company would not have made these simple mistakes. Then i googled the address that they wanted me to use for the Western Union payment, and it didn't exist. I also googled the domain name that the email came from, that also didn't exist. So I emailed the guy back and told him I was on to the fact it was fraud. My cell phone ran back to back 5 times immediately after I sent that email. Needless to say I didn't answer! I was conned TODAY!



I am from South Africa and an advert on a South African Classifieds Website advertised Exotic Short Hair Kittens - Free to a good home.

So, i contacted them via e-mail and was led into believing that the breeder are giving them away because she decided not to breed anymore because of her work and she wouldn't have time to care for them anymore.

Unsuspecting, she said that she will have the Kitten sent to me via Airfreight, which I know how it works as I am a Logistics Rep. So, this morning I get this e-mail with banking details and I pay the amount required for the delivery of this kitten. After that I get the confirmation of flight details and time of delivery.

Half an hour before said delivery, I receive another e-mail stating that there has been a delay.

Another half an hour later, I receive another e-mail with an invoice stating that I have to pay yet another amount, an INSURANCE amount, refundable to me with delivery of the kitten.

So I phone the Mobile number I have for this Pet Express company. And the guy says that there is no way they can deliver the kitten without the insurance fee. So, I see this "company logo" on the e-mail: Animailers. And I Google "Animailers" And what pops up? The links referring to this site.

And here I am. Conned.

I hope people get to this website before they pay any money to these people.

Hi, I wanted to thank you for this page and the work you do to stop internet fraud.
What happend to me is that I was looking thru the web to by I Pomeranian puppy, and find this woman Laura Banks , whom I realized pleased articles offering her puppies in many countries and pages.
She told me they lived in Scotland doing humanitarian work, and couldnt keep the puppies because of the weather and all the time alone the puppies where spending.
She was going to send me the puppies ( girl & boy... she said she couldnt separate them, they had to stay together) using a delivery company named V3 PET CARGO AIRLINES , and that she could send them that same night! (that was very suspiciuos), and that the puppies would arrived at my house in 5-6 hours, which its complitly impossible, cause I live in Peru, and she in Scotland. When I said that I did not wanted the poor puppies doing such a long trip (Scotland-London-Madrid-Peru) , she got angry and told me that it was an non-stop flight and that in fact was going to take between 5-6 hours . (impossible again only from Peru to Madrid its like 10 hours !), ( there are non direct flight its to far away).
Also I asked her for pictures, and she sent me a few really tiny pictures, and others that where bigger pics, then also between al the pictures you could said there where not the same puppies!, those where pictures that I bealive she was taking from the internet like from "Google images"...
And to end this she told me on her first email that the names of the puppies where " Jake & Cassie" , and in her last email she told me (probably forgot she had already told me the names ) and this time the puppies name´s where "Jake and Lorie"....
This was the last drop...
I told her I wasnt feeling like she was honest, and that a bealived it was a scam. So that for me that ended there.

Guys we need to be very carefull, there are a lot of thiefs out there, its better to go and buy somewhere where the pets are actually there and pic it up in person.

I just wanted to thank you so much for posting your ad on here. I was almost scammed today when I just felt a little weary of the whole thing. The person said she was from florida and that she had a girl husky puppy that she needed to get rid of and all I needed to do was pay for the shipping, except the shipping company wouldnt except anything but western union and wanted me to tell them the payment was for a family member instead of for them. Probably because western union would have said something about PET FRAUD. Wow... again thank you so much.... it was the same contact person and everything that posted.

i saw an advert on iclads for an english cocker spaniel puppy that was supposed to be in leeds , i emailed the seller to say i was interested, i got one back telling me about the puppy and that he couldnt look after her anymore as he worked for cisco as an administrator and that he had recently moved to the isle of man , he wanted to know where we we were based and if we had any knowledge , so i replied to his email, i got one back stating he was happy for me to have her and all i would have to pay is £120 towards the transportation costs , he said he needed my address, phone number and name , at this point i didnt think anything of it so i sent them. i asked whether the puppy was originally from a breeder but he said that it was a birthday present from a friend. after i started thinking and thought i would look into shipping animals from the isle of man when i came across a few articles on scams regarding puppys, alarm bells started ringing so i emailed him back and stated that i thought this was a scam and he'd messed with the wrong person. i got an email tonight from a company called pet relocation with all the details of the puppy, but the address was an isle of man address 3 hill street douglas they wanted the money through western union and it was to be paid to Ndikum Anyere 3 hill street douglas, i checked out the address and its a pub, the bloke that was selling the puppy was called klint povel and the email he used was smothlil@yahoo.com , the address for the shipping company was www.petrelocationltd.page.tl
im glad i read all these articles before i sent any money we are rather gutted as we have recently lost our dog to old age and were looking forward to having another ill just find one from a breeder where i can view it in person

Iwas looking for a cocker spaniel puppy, i was emailed by a person who claims to be Stanley Roberts, he claimed he was looking for good homes and after asking me to send in my knowledge of the breed etc, says he would give me the puppy and could have it transported to my door from kirkwall scotland as i live in sunderland and it was a long hawl.

The cost of the transport would cost me a total of £200, cheap at that price however this transport compsny is a scam, they have web site, e-mail address and contact numbers (don't ring as you're probley ringing someone in cameroon) a lot of things didn't ring true plus he could not send me any recent pic's of the puppy, My partner works for a courier company and has never heard of them.

I then googled it only to find loads of letter exactly like the ones sent to me, luckly we sussed them out and lost no money.

PLEASE INFORM EVERYONE YOU KNOW WITH PETS SO NO ONE ELSE GETS CAUGHT, THESE SCAMS ARE FROM CAMEROON OR AT LEAST HAVE CONECTIONS WITH CAMEROON. PLEASE BE VIGILENT!!!!!!!
