Chris Tann Clothing Company Model Job Offer

Here is a recent job offer I received by email. Has anyone heard of this one? It seems to be a scam to get advanced fees for a UK Work Permit and Model Licence. I have found the email address of the Barrister Mark Peters (Emails: info_barristermarkpeters@yahoo.com and markpeters01@live.ca; Phone:+44 702 401 4676) that Mr. Chris Tann recommends on a list of email addresses used by 419 scammers in the past.

The offer is genuine as it is from me, so if you wish to
proceed with this job all you need is listed below

You would need to get a passport ASAP and for the other documents,below is the information you will require.

The first set of shoot is billed to commence on the 10th of January 2008.
So if all the necessary documents are ready (i.e the Permit and License)then you would be flying ASAP.

Meanwhile procuring a UK work permit and License is easy but it takes a whole lot of time say 6-8 weeks for the Permit and 3-4 weeks for the License.

So what you will do is to employ the services of a UK Based Attorney who would apply for an Expedited permit (EPL) and license on your behalf with a letter of Recommendation from the Client offering the Job.

So i advice you contact any UK based Attorney ASAP.But in case you do not have access to one i could recommend one for you so you can contact him directly. Do not fail to get back to me if you cannot hire a reliable attorney that can get the documents on your behalf because i can refer you to someone reliable so as to prevent delays.

Not sure what you want to know, as you have answered your own question really. It's a fake job used to scam money. Whilst the format of the letters change, and there are many, the theme is always identical. They want cash.

Smells like an overpayment scammer who may wish to send a cheque, which will naturally require I send a balance somewhere else. Whatever the case, this is very bogus indeed.

Well Thanks, I've been in contact with him as well (I'm a professional photographer in Shanghai) and I couldn't understand WHY would a company want to fly me in from Shanghai for a shooting in the UK. Something smelt wrong... and I can see I was right!

I smelled a rat from the beginning, and politely declined his offer, but to this day he's still trying to pursuade me to come to London. After a little due diligence, I see I am not alone; I'm glad somebody started this thread.
I have to admit it's a clever scam, one I've never heard of before, and I imagine some photogs have fallen for it. However, the saying "if it's too good to be true then it probably is" is especially valid in China, so I need to be constantly on guard.

I am a professional photograpaher, based in Swiss and Japan.
I, too, recieved an email from Christann Tann.

At first I was interested in a job he offered , but, he said that its remuneration is 150GBP per day(too cheap) and contract worth is 245,000GBP(too expensive)....It is very doubtful...But, I have been going on to correspond because I will be able to get a lot of profit if the contract was truth.

After all I got a contract paper, but, he didn't sign at all. And I research about an attrney who was introduced me by Christann Tann. The attorney's address was place of a car mechanique....I will continue to correspond with him, for make sure what he will be sayingfrom now on. Of course I think surely he is a SWINDLER.

That was my experience too after I poked him for further information. He never responded once I told him I was in the UK. I suppose his thinking is that it would be easier for a British person to blow his cover as we tend to be a suspicious bunch over here.

I have come across a big SCAMM that is targeting the models and photographers.
Please if you get an email like this, make sure you report it to the FBI, and inform all your friends.

It is shameful and embarrassing that people like that still exist in our society, but it is our responsibility to protect others and ourselves from such criminals.

Exposing these criminals is the best way to fight them back, and you can also contact www.fbi.gov and report these activities as well.

This is the email I received and I immediately Googled the ******* and this is what came up, you should do the same every time you get an offer that seem suspicious.

Hello all,

Just a quick note from the real Chris Tann. As the webmaster of http://www.christann.com (christann dot com), I have been receiving messages about these scam emails for a couple of weeks. Just to be clear, the emails are nothing to do with myself, or with my website. As far as I know, there is no company called Christann Clothing Inc., and if there is, it is not in any way affiliated with myself. I am going to update the website shortly to clearly state that.

I am pleased that fraudwatchers.com exists for people to discuss the fraud (when I first googled it a while back, I got no matches back). I have seen plenty of these "Nigerian scams" in my time, and have long ago learned to ignore them. This case, of course, is a little different, seeing as they are using my name, and my website!

I have to wonder why on earth they picked me? True, I am an actor, but it seems that for their purposes, using some sort of modelling site would have been better. I guess maybe I ****ed off one of the scammers at one stage, and this is their revenge?

Do the FBI or Interpol ever try and track down these scammers? I would love to see them brought to justice, but I guess its a long shot...
