Thank you for posting, Mr. Tann and welcome to Fraudwatchers. It's unfortunate that it happens under these circumstances.
It's a good thing that you are placing relevant warnings and disclaimers on your website; that is, to be truthful, the best that we as citizens can do at this time. Education, and making people aware of the lengths these criminals go will, to a great extent, lessen the likelihood of people being taken in, and thereby drastically reducing the cash flow for the scammers.
Unfortunatley, scammers will use the name of any individual, business or corporation so long as they can wrap it around a scam format; as you are no doubt aware, large corporations such as petroleum companies and banks, and smaller legitimate businesses such as clothing manufacturers, designers, delivery companies and others have been used in scams. Notably in dating frauds, the names and pictures/photos of various celebrities have been stolen to try and defraud unsuspecting victims.
The FBI only have jurisdiction of federal crime committed within the USA; Interpol are a liaison group and have no powers of arrest as such. The same goes for the national police forces of each country. The inherent problem is that these scammers are located in countries that, at high level, themselves set examples of corruption that are followed by their court, judicial and law enforcement officers. It doesn't take a huge amount for the police to look the other way in situations where the criminals are making millions. Trying to get cooperation in these situations is next to impossible, although Nigeria have been making steps to fight this blight on their name, with the creation and development of the EFCC.
It's not good news, but with the medium of the internet, we can at least try to reach out to the millions that are online, and trust that they will be safe, learning to use it to carry out all necessary research on anything that looks or feels suspicious. Our sincere hope is that eventually, the scams will become so well recognized that it will no longer be a viable proposition for the criminals.

Anybody tried calling the number?
Hey there, I just got the same message - I'm in Canada, but I'm a Brit so I don't need any paperwork. Smelled a scam, hit Google, Voilla!
If the real Chris Tann, or anybody else in the UK, would ring that phone number, please report back on what happens. Perhaps the scammer is at the other end of the line. If so, please jsut call the police and pass on the information.
Also, that address is in central London. Could somebody in the UK verify if that is a real address (it looks like a legit business address to me - perhaps it's a big company that has no idea about this scammer)?
Lastly, congratulations on Fraud Watchers for saving all of our bacon!
Cheers

The telephone number is a "follow-me" service, provided for legitimate businesses that need to travel around a lot. It redirects all incoming calls to that number, to almost anywhere in the world. Looking at the origin of the emails, I would say the destination is in Nigeria or other neighboring country. Usually when these numbers are reported to the relevant telecommunications providers, they are shut down very quickly.
The phones these scammers use are prepaid, disposable, anonymous cell phones - somewhat like the SIM cards that one can buy in the UK for 10 pounds - completely anonymous.
The address could be a legitimate one, but the scammers have absolutely no intention of using it, and never will... they expect all their transactions to be made by email, telephone and Western Union. And as for Western Union... please read this link to learn more about why the scammers use them.

Eh? Maybe to paraphrase that to "Real Bull Crap" job offer. There isn't anything "real" about the job offer at all, just fraud from top to bottom using a stolen identity.

I knew it
Hey guys.
I am a photographers representative and totally received the same email you all did. I am so glad that there is a website dedicated to this, and feel so bad that they've wasted any of our time. You would think that they would at least study the English language better and get to know the business they are trying to scam first, as it is so blatantly apparent that they are full of sh**.
I'm so glad that this network is here!
The email they sent me is below

MY ANSWER
Hello Chris,
Im not used to work like you propose me. Also for the WORK PERMIT VISA BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
There are two sets of requirements that need to be satisfied in order to qualify for a UK Work Permit. The first is to obtain the Work Permit itself and the second is to apply for Entry Clearance or Further Leave to Remain.
The Work Permit application can only be made by a UK employer. The Work Permit can be issued for up to five years, and assuming all the further requirements are satisfied, it may lead to permanent residence and British Nationality thereafter.
The Work Permit is ideal for employers in the UK who need to fill positions at a skilled level. It also provides an opportunity for those at senior board level or those wishing to transfer within their own company from abroad to the UK.
I've been a photographer for more than 10 years and I've never heard about "the photographer's license" (that you're requiring from me) but as an international photographer I obviously have my passport up to date.
If the client (Vodafone) wants me for this job it should be him who manage my entry and everything in UK. I've work in many other countries and my employers did that all the time for me. I didn't pay anything in advance to get a Visa. By this time i didn't read nor recieve the assigment contract. So im not gonna call any attorney or say Yes to something i do not know exactly and you're telling me that the shoot is within 10 days from now and that I need to hire some attorney to get the job.
Send me the assigment contract FIRST and then i'll get back to you with an answer. Then if its yes you'd need to send me the working permit signed by the client and I'll present it in the UK emabassy here. The urgency of the job might require some action by the client itself within the embassy personel, but not from me.
Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.
Kind regards,
PS: The contract you sent my says nothing about license, copyright ownership, etc. You should fix a better contract assigmment. Learn something about photogrphy business

This scam has morphed into a new one for photographers...
Hi there all. I posted a week or so ago when I got this scam. But I think it has morphed into something else now. I received another email today from a completely new company. Again I googled the phone number and lo and behold, the scammers name associated to that phone number is "Mr Peter Mark" (remember the "lawyer" from the scam is "Mark Peter"?)
So anyway, that phone number is being used to scam bed & breakfasts (B&Bs) around the UK - see this link ( http://www.pillowsandpancakes.com/sw...0c8e6e069c7a5b)
Anyway, below is the scam I got today:

Alfred Quinton
His new name "Alfred Quinton" after a famous UK painter comes together with a webside. Did anybody know?
