Potential business venture on ebay
Hi,
I am not sure if this is a scam and would appreciate advice on how to protect myself to the best of my abilities.
The business parternership that I get into inherently puts me in a difficult position, and requires a leap of faith on my part that I am not getting scammed.
Here goes, someone wants to use my ebay account/ paypal account/ bank information/ credit cards all attached to the accounts.
They want to sell their products using my high seller rating account. They state that I have to do nothing and will get a certain percentage of the profits which to me is not enormous nor is it meager. Its believable.
They have given me links to a few other accounts on ebay where they are selling the same products all over and the store designs on all the accounts are the same and the products are the same. They have good feedback on the accounts from the buyers.
I am at a position where I would like residual income on a monthly basis and I don't have a lot of money in my account that is linked to the paypal/ebay. I can also withdraw some funds.
I will have to give this person my driver's license copy, access to ebay, access to paypal, leaving the credit card and bank account attached.
I don't have a high credit rating and know that my credit card doesn't allow a lot to be withdrawn from it.
We are doing this on a local basis, we will meet in person to sign a document stating all terms of me being a simple consultant not that actual company doing the selling.
Please give me insight into what hurdles I may face if I pursue this venture. I am for one not rich at all, don't have a lot of money and so see myself as not loosing much in terms of money from my bank account/credit cards.
Has anyone come across such frauds?

It is complete and utter BS, and a fraud.
One of my family members, on my step mothers side, had the "opportunity" do something just the same as this on eBay. Sell stuff using your own account on behalf of someone else. The guise is that it is a form of job, where you get a cut.
It is very simple.
You would be taking part in an illegal act, where goods being offered may be stolen or simply do not exist in the first place. You would not have the goods in your possession, thus you would have no way of knowing whether they are real or not.
This latter scam is called "non-delivery fraud", where YOU sell something on eBay that is never delivered, but the proceeds for the sale are taken immediately by your "employer/partner".
So, when the fraud is discovered, who do you think will end up in jail for fraud?
Yes, that'll be YOU.
Let's have all the perps details out here in the open so the fraud can be exposed.
You should discontinue any communications with these punks.

I have had those kind of jobs before also. However, this one is face to face, we are signing a contract absolving me of all connections to product/services offered.
There is a distinct clause stating I am not responsible for this. I only represent a marketing partner.
Other than that the partner is providing with other examples of stores with similar products/services that he/she has setup.
If this is a legitamate offer, I don't want to let it pass, but at the same time don't want to get duped.
Any insights?

Do you imagine that because the perpetrator is meeting you face to face that it automatically becomes legit? What did con artists have to do before the internet? Think about it.
Paperwork is designed to give an air of authenticity, it is worthless in a court of law in your defence when the fraud is slammed upon your head, which it will be if you do not take heed.
There is NO SUCH JOB where you are asked to syphon goods through YOUR PERSONAL eBay account. If the business was legitimate they would not only have their own accounts, they would never need your help in the first place.
Don't be a lemon, listen to common sense.
It is a fraud.
