Hi,
They also contacted our company (Germany) on business, intending to place an order. Reply from the Chinese Chamber of Commerce to our enquiry will take some time but they put pressure on signing the contract in China. Does anyone know if they are real? Thanks.
Martina
Hi to you all.
They contacted me also for a big order to deliver as soon as possible. They asked the same, to sign the contract in China. I have a serious contact in China and I asked them to phone, as soon as I will know something I will post it.

They also contacted us (Netherlands) with a large purchaseorder.
We should have to pay some costs in advance. A small percentage of a large sum (the purchase order). Did this happen to you too?
We still don't know they really exist.

Attention, this is a known SCAM!
Readers with German reading abilities should read through following google search result:
http://www.google.com/search?q=Lieferanfragen+aus+China
or at Spiegel Online: http://service.spiegel.de/digas/find?DID=48902713
Unfortunately this report is not anymore available for free. I think I saved it, but I can not find it quickly.
A brief explanation of this kind of scam in English:
Chinese companies contacts your company -> is interested in your companies products -> orders after a short time and mostly without any negotiations (Note: This is not the Chinese way and should be the first step to be high alerted!!!) -> Chinese company wants that reps of your company come to China ASAP for signing contract -> company reps fly to China -> contract will be signed -> afterwards Chinese company "recommends" to celebrate the contract in a restaurant -> this restaurant is pre-selected by Chinese company -> your company reps pay a highly overpriced bill -> afterwards, Chinese company is not anymore reachable for your company...because they got what they want from you: YOUR MONEY!
Be very carefully when doing Biz with Chinese companies!!!
Feel free to contact me in case you need some information, I live in South China and so maybe my services are useful for you. Please send PM with your information request, as I don't publish my Email on this website...for security reason.

Hello,
We as the other companies have been contacted and we actually went to China and saw their office with forty people working, we feel that there is something wrong and we havent sent no money but some things still sound like normal. Afteryour comment I think caution would be an understatement.

Greetings from belgium,
They did the same here, promise big order but contract needs te be signed in China, I tried to persuade them to proceed otherwise but they threaten immediately to go to competition. Morevover, the type of products they want to buy are widely available at lower costs than what I have offered; as I trade in them myself, not sure, but sounds suspicious to me...anyone who can confirm they are for real or not?

Victor,
Can you tell us more about the meeting? Did you sign a contract, did they ask you to pay notarization fees in advance, did they suggest to "celebrate" (as mentioned in the links above)? What exactly made you feel there was something wrong? After not sending the money, have they contacted you again?
Thanks in advance for sharing your impressions.

All,
Our Product Manager actually went there this morning to find out that offices had been closed by Chinese police yesterday: defraud of foreign companies.
Just to let you know.
Regards,
Martina
We also went to China and had the banquet, and now that we are home (USA) they are asking for notary fees before transferring funds. The last email we got was dated noon May 15 so if the offices are locked, they still have other computers. If it's too good to be true...

Hi,
They also contacted our company (Italy) on business, intending to place an order (2.500.000 Euro). They asked for notary fees before transferring funds. Because of the size of the potential contract, our Sales group decided that they wanted us to revise the contract, taking out the notary paragraph, and see what happened.
We haven't notice from shenzhen from that day.
Best Regards

Hi There
We have been to China, visiting with the manager and briefly meeting the general manager of Shenzhen Jingfengying Industry Co., Ltd.
There were no hard negotiations about the contract and once we signaled that we were ready to sign, they told us that it was a chinese customs to hand over a gift when the contract is getting signed.
Not knowing if this is true or not, we tried to contact a friend that was used to chinese customs, but we could not reach him.
Because of the size of the order, we decided to go with it, but were surprised when they took us to a store and wanted a couple of huge flat screen tv's. Of course we were not willing to spend 10'000 USD on a gift...
The Manager then wanted a cheaper TV, then a Computer, then a couple of expencive mobile phones.... we let em off with a couple cheap ones...
Sadly, we have not heard anything since. No pre-payment, no phone call, no nothing...
That's our story...

This is exactly what happened to us.
After meeting personally with their CEO and signing the contract, they expected us to "celebrate" the signing with some sort of expensive gift.
We were puzzled at first, then gave in and bought some bottles of expensive wine from the cellar of the restaurant where we were celebrating.
Of course we turned down most of their expectations, but the importance of teh contract made us reluctant to just say "NO".
It wasn't dramatic after all, but after the dining we where pretty sure that the whole thing was tricky.
Of course, after that, no bank transfers or phone calls or emails from their side. Some sort of assistant told us on the phone that the CEO and the first reps are now in jail.
Watch out: their website is www.szjfy.net, while under www.szjfy.com you'll find what appears to be a real great company. However the latter is only in chinese...

I'd like to suggest everyone some info regarding chinese contacts.
1. In china, sending just email, without phone call, is already considered as trickery. So respectable chinese company will never send just email. There will be phone call before email.
2. Chinese fight for each cent, they NEVER will agree to your price.
3. Everything you can imagine, is being produced in china, so they can get it there. There's very unlikely, that chinese company, for example, wants to buy, stainless steel forks in Germany.
4. Only very hightech measuring and development equipment is not being produced in china, so chinese may need it, but it can be found in japan, and delivery will be much more easier.
5. Do not trust various certificates on their websites. Most times they are fake.

The url tom.com is a free webmail provider. There's very little to go on here. Are they offering, like the above companies, to spend a lot of money on products from you and insisting you give them something in return?

For the things you descrive here i think is a joke companye, because i heav year doing importation from China, from Shenzen, and in China the contracts "don't exist".

Hi,
I saw some posts here about this topic and wanted to share my experiences. I have just visited Shenzhen Run Yuan Feng import&export company. They want to sign a big contract, but need it to be signed by a notary, for which they need 2,000 GBP in advance. The reasoning for the notary is sound, but I suspect a scam. I don't think it a) should cost that much (1.2% of the contract value) and 2) paying upfront without any evidence or paperwork just doesn't sit well with me. This was they only breaking point in the whole negotiations.
Also, as mentioned elsewhere, there was no hard negotiating and the products they ordered seem a bit strange. Answers to further questions also were not really satisfying, nor was their offices particularly convincing.
I was wondering if anybody has been contacted by this company. Their website is www.runyuanfeng.com.
Many thanks,
Mark
