I received this email today and was wondering if in fact it is real or a scam. I searched for her name on the web and found that she is indeed an artist and has some art showing in Nashville, I just can't see how an artist could have trouble cashing money orders from the US in the UK, does this really happen? Please someone get back with me and let me know if you think this is a scam>>? thank you!

Hi !
It's a cheque mule scam. I recall 419 Eater members established that a few weeks ago
It's a well known scam format that has used the names of several real artists, to make it seem more "authentic". Scammers often use real company names or real people names (Charles Soludo of Central Bank of Nigeria, Susan Bryant the artist, Mariam Abacha, former first lady of Nigeria, etc.) to make their stories sound better. The artist herself is not involved, and there is absolutely NO legitimate reason for anyone in the UK (or any country, for that matter) to ask you to cash payments on their behalf. In fact, the practice is illegal and is generally known as "money laundering", if the payments are real.
However, in this scam, the payments will be fake, and you lose twice. You lose money to the scammer and are left holding the bag when the bank comes calling for their money.
