Hello suz; yes, it is most definitely a 100% scam. Many tell-tale signs of this, the first one being that there is no such thing as a lottery based on random drawings of email addresses. Neither Yahoo or Microsoft sponsor any kind of lottery, and they would never partner as they are competitors. And there is no such legal entity as an "International" lottery.

The scam is for you to respond to their 'fiduciary' agent (non-existent in real lottery concerns) or, in this case, the fictional 'events manager', who will then tell you (and send you forged or edited images of your winnings check, various certificates and other goodies that are as fake as a three dollar bill), that in order for you to receive your winnings, you must pay various "fees" such as anti-terrorism declaration, taxes, shipping charges and other similar imaginary elements.

The fees are never-ending; sometimes they even send you a "small" check or money order, the amount being in the low thousands. They will then expect you to deposit it into your account and then send them a "difference" in cash via Western Union. The check is fake, and after a few weeks (or even months) the bank reverses the transaction, leaving you liable for any funds drawn against it. In addition, the bank may also press criminal charges against you for using a forged instrument.

This is not fantasy; this is fact, and has happened on occasions too numerous to list here.

The best thing to do would be to simply delete these emails from your inbox, and others like it. Don't respond, not even to tell them you know it's a scam, simply because this will leave you open to further scam emails.
