In many instances a person does not check their credit report on a regular basis. When someone does check they may be in for a shock. A person may see many different account names showing a line of credit has been extended to them. I would recommend looking at account numbers listed on the report. This is because a company may sell the account to another company. In order to make it easier for the customer the account number remains the same only the account holder information has changed.

Just becasue you see information on your credit report does not always mean it is your account. In some instances, another persons account has been entered into your report. This may be a result of clerical error or someones part.

Just because you don't recognize something on your credit report does not mean you are a victim of identity theft. If you see something on your credit report you don't recognize...check it out!!! Remember, we are humans and it is part of our nature to make mistakes.
