I suspect that this could be a scammer trying to pass themselves of as Optima Resources.

Did you receive the email from "Sonia@optimaresources.com"?

The OptimaResources web site looks legit to me. However, large chunks of it are identical to http://www.directionsmag.com/companies/Beagles_Technologies/ -- it's possible that Optima is a copy of that, or vice versa. Same goes for http://www.jobsahead.com/LandT/index.html

OptimaResources was registered for 2 years, and has lasted almost 2 years, which also indicates it's probably not a scammer site.
Registrar: SCHLUND+PARTNER AG
Dates: Created 21-feb-2005 Updated 14-nov-2006 Expires 21-feb-2007

They look like a business consulting company -- is that the kind of job that you would be suitable for, based on the resume that you "posted on a job search portal"? I checked the first 3 phone numbers from the email, and none of them are cellphones. Nevertheless, I'd use the phone number from their web site ( 732 549 0050 ) to call them.

It seems odd that they twice mention the Indian Standard timezone. Can you think of a reason why they would do that?

I suggest you reply to this email directly to Sonia@optimaresources.com and ask her opinion.

Please let us know anything else you find out.

Here's what I found during trawling the internet for some information:

According to various posts made on job seeking and immigration boards, Optima Resources contacts people and offers to arrange for an H1-B visa for that person.

An H1-B visa is a so-called "specialized professional" visa. It allows a person to work in the United States for a certain amount of time, but only when certain conditions are met in the first place.

Those visas are notoriously difficult to obtain, they are subject to yearly visa quotas (which are met very quickly, sometimes close to the beginning of the quota year), and they carry a lot of requirements with them that need to be satisfied.

If you Google "Optima Resources Inc" (including the brackets), you will find quite a few posts on different boards containing personal accounts of dealings with this company, as well as a ton of warnings against it. In quite a few posts, other people state that they have been asked to pay this company quite significant amounts of money for the supposed visa processing, and that they were treated with disregard once the money was sent and delivered.

I would advise you to research this company further, and to proceed with caution.

This is a fraud company.

Similar letters have been received by many individuals. Once you send the documents they ask for, together with their filled form, they will sit tight, unless someone rings them. Then they demand for the money, which is illegal...asking for upfront money.

Beware, there are many fraudsters in the Internet....that is the flip side of the internet...its a public menance.

Optima should be reported to the FBI. I think their address is fake, and all the names are fictitious. Whoever is behind this, should be put behind bars

You might try contacting the New Jersey Attorney General, since that's where the company claims to be located. http://www.state.nj.us/lps/

However, unless you can provide proof (probably written/printed) that show they promised you a service, you paid for it, and they clearly didn't provide it, nothing much may come of it. There's also the option of complaining to the Better Business Bureau and spreading the word about them on appropriate forums. I'm afraid there isn't much chance of recovering any money, however, unless the attorney general gets a ton of complaints and wins a case against the company.

You say the company is legal - scores of others do not. You are applying for your sister's H1B visa? In what capacity are you making such an application? Her employer? Her agent? Or are you stating that you are hoping Optima Resources (aka Accurum Technologies) are making it on your behalf, who in turn is making it on behalf of your sister?

Why not try reading the US Embassy in New Delhi website? Here, read this article (http://www.fraudwatchers.org/forums/view.php?pg=fw_visa_india) while you're about it... especially the Rules for Interested Parties.

Thank you, Unregistered123 from New Jersey, for your anonymous, unsubstantiated post, insisting that they "still make sure about payment to them". I'm sure it will be regarded in the same manner.

Strange that he would like to advertise this. Maybe he never quite understood what kind of company he was working for.

I suppose it might not be the same company. After all there is a legitimate company named "Accurum Inc" as well, while the one discussed here is "Accurum Technologies LLC". But Optima seems to describe themselves as Inc in most places, but also LLC for example here:

http://optimaresourceswhy.com/approach.htm

The legitimate company name is actually Accurum Inc which was taken over by the Kanbay conglomerate a few years ago.

Accurum Technologies LLC, it seems, have tried very hard to copy them both in style and format in order to effect these frauds against their fellow countrymen in India. Disgraceful.

i dont think so they are frauds, if they were tehy woudl havent been in this business for long specially in the US, and its very easy for a bulgarian website to comment on offshore companies based out of bulgaria, its good to verify from real sources rather gettting such ambigious information on the internet.; specially such sites who just focus to create more hit rates on their websites.so good to check from some real sources.

Unfortunately it takes many months, sometimes years, for US authorities to gain enough evidence to put the scammers behind bars. They WILL be put down, but as you are obviously working for them you must also be very worried about your own status as 'free'.

We have given plenty of evidence in these forums as to why this is a fraud, it is down to the peope that these companies target -- their Indian brothers and sisters -- to make the final decision.

Public opinion, evidence, and the rule of law will bring down your scammer buddies. You can put up as many blogs as you like, lie through your teeth to your brothers and sisters, but in the end, the truth will out, and this particular 'Employment Scam' will be washed away with the rest of the dirt and the rats. Mind you don't get washed away too.

Yes indeed... real sources like the US Embassy in New Delhi, for instance. Or perhaps the US Department of State, for another.

Indeed, don't take the word of a Bulgarian website... or a poster from India that remains anonymous, and, true to form, leaves traces of his direct involvement with the scamming business for whom he works.

I have got similar offer as well. The moment I heard the money I didnt had to think twice. I called a friend of mine in NJ. This incident is reported to FBI and soon an investigator will be sent to their office.

If anyone has an email from the company with their account details and proof that they have asked for money please post here. I need some proof to be sent across FBI.

I have forwarded my recorded call to FBI with one of the resource manager. But we need email or printed letter. Guys who have it give me.

Let us put a stop to this company !

Folk,

On behalf of a friend currently residing in Malaysia, who was told by Optima that he had to send them $3,000 so that they can process his H1-B application, I contacted the New Jersey department in Newark which regulates employment agencies and consulting firms. They tell me that this charge is illegal and that they will investigate. I then contacted the FBI, which confirms the illegality of this practice, and will investigate as well. If we are lucky, these people will be put out of business.

To all of you ladies and gents who posted about Law Enforcement investigating this case:

If you are aware of an investigation, and the federal authorities have indeed requested information on this company, please be so kind and direct other visitors of FraudWatchers straight to the source, instead of just posting about how the Feds are on it.

I am assuming that since you posted here, the authorities have authorized you to do so? If not, why are you posting at all? To jeopardize an active investigation?

Try having a conscious thought before you make posts like that.

Hello everyone.
accurum technology or oriom is obviously a fraud site.
the guys talkin to you on phone or the one whom u call at the numbers provided are not even located in US so naturally there is no way they are gonna caught in US.
now to clarify how the number is of US.
In US you can get redacted number(no longer used) by giving an exigent letter to the service providers.

the money they will be asking will never be mentioned on website or mail. they will be giving you an account number and details on the phone itself. so beware from such frauds.

a legal and decent company would never ask you to pay first.

This email and the company is surely legal. Though run by some underworld people. It is simply a money making machine. They charge lots of money for processing H1B and if your application is not pickedup by the lottery system (since last year) then you have to forget about the money you paid for this processing. Having a bad (dream) experince with them, it's a NO NO... find other companies which are reliable. Owners personal life is almost similar. Girls on H1B visa has to work at their home as baby sitters for owners sister. No pay, no work if you are on bench. Owner himself married few times and divorced in few months. The company is big show off and no values. BEWARE and good luck.
