can someone please help me? i have sent some mails for a period now with a man from ghana, and he has invited me down to ghana because he say he is working for a widow that have much money... and she ant to invest this money in a projekt i have in thailand.... is this just bull****??? he say she want to invest 25 million dollar or more... please i need to talk to someone who knows about this......

Yes, there are common scams where West Africans offer to invest huge amounts in foreign companies. We are familiar with them here. If you post more information, such as the first email you received, we will be happy to point out why it is a scam.

One way or the other they will start asking you for fees before they send you anything. Travelling to meet them is extremely dangerous, there are many cases where people have simply disappeared.

Dear Sirs,

I am from the Philippines. By brother in law met two cameroon guys carrying with them a bag full of money. They said there father was the Department of Finance of Cameroon and was killed. They hid the money in our house. They said the money could not be used because it is covered by a black chemical for robbery protection. They ask $ 8,000.00 for plain ticket to thailand, so they can buy a certain chemical that will erase the black chemical in there money hid in our house. But suddenly they called and said that they are deported by the government of thailand to cameroon. Then they asked for $ 5,000.00 again, so they can travel via thailand then to the Philippines. We send money, but after a week they called that they are deported again because they have no visa. We send another $ 5,000.00. They said they will travel via Hong kong then to the Philippines. They keep asking for money and my mother keep sending hoping that they will come back for the bag of money they left. They said that the bag could not be open because once you open it you must erase the chemical or the chemical will stick in the money and will be of no use. Please help us. My parents believe that they are coming back and will pay all there debts but I start to doubt them after finding your website and reading some stories posted here.
I really just want to know they are for real or scam?

I'm sorry, but these people have obviously scammed your family, and are trying to scam them for some more. The "black money" or "wash wash" scam is a fairly well documented scam.

It's all sleight of hand. They take one real bill, dirty it up with nothing but petroleum jelly and some iodine. The "chemical" is nothing but cleaning solution, and the other "notes" are plain paper. There is no money to be cleaned.

You need to alert your local police immediately. They will advise you on what to do. They may even be willing and able to arrange for an arrest. But you need to talk to them as soon as possible. If they are not willing to help or arrange an arrest, then you need to convince your family that these people are scammers. Any money they send will be lost, and meeting with these people face to face on your own, without police involved, is very dangerous. Scammer gangs who pull this particular type of scam are not above physically robbing, injuring, kidnapping, or even killing their victims if they think that's the only way they can get more money. You need to involve the police.
