I have been talking to a lady on the internet for almost 3 months now and she recently said that she is stuck in Benin Africa with almost no funds and she recently received an email from a client for art work she had done over the last year saying that he will pay his account in full. though he will only pay by cashiers check. So she had him make the check out to me and being that she is in Africa and that she is supposedly having trouble with the bank there she wants me cash the check and wire a large portion of the sum to her. she notified me of this on 3/21 and I received the check 2 days later from Canada with a post mark of 03/19 and the check made out on 03/15. As I said she said nothing about it until the 21st. The reason I am posting this here is that "Mr Matsu Saburo" is mentioned in the letter that accompanied the check.

"Scamming a scammer" is called scam-baiting. There's lots of scam-baiting sites on the Net (e.g. www.scambaits.com) where you can get some good tips on how to do it successfully and safely.

Hi Amber,

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. Scammers do not send you any money.

'Representative' Scammers typically send their victims fake checks, and ask them to send 90% of the check value back to the fraudster.

If you have received a check and banked it, you should immediately tell your bank that you now suspect it is fake. If you don't do this, the bank may think you're part of the scam and have you arrested.

If you have received a check and not banked it, then hand the check to your local police, or at least destroy the check.
