I also accepted the invitation like that on 28th August. I didn't read this at that time and I believed it and applied English language teacher job. Then on 29th August, an application form in name of Ministry of Education Malaysia arrived to me. I filled my personal details and sent it back. On 1st Sept, I was informed that my application form is receieved.

Then it took a week and on 8th sept, I got a mail again from them that I was selected and a scanned file of the Letter of Emploment in name of the Minstry of Education Malaysia sent to me. I am confused when I got the message from this site. Can anyone tell me is it a fake or a real one. As I am new member and I haven't activated my account yet and I can't contact to any member, esp the above writer to ask more details about them. So the above writer or anyone, if you have more information about them, pls let me know. Thank you.

Hi joehtut, and welcome to Fraudwatchers. :)

The reason this is a scam is that they will eventually ask you to pay them fees upfront. For example, they may ask for "processing fees" for your application, or "fees" for you to get a visa.
Typically, they will ask for these fees to be sent by you via Western Union or Moneygram, as these are anonymous money transfer services heavily favoured by scammers.

After you have paid the fees, you will never get your money back again, and the scammers will say there were problems with processing your application which will require you to pay yet more fees.

What will happen will be similar to the story posted on this thread (http://fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2815) or this story (http://fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3009) or this story (http://fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1716).

I hope this helps.

Hey Joehtut and welcome to FraudWatchers!

I posted the above format here because I received it in my personal email account. Such offers are often spammed to hundreds if not thousands of people, and that's why I put it up here for everyone to see.

This is definitely a fake and fraudulent offer. As Breccia has eloquently explained, eventually you will be asked to pay "processing fees", "visa fees" or whatever else the scammer chooses to come up with in order to get your money.

One thing worthy of taking notice of is that the official domain name of the Ministry of Education of Malaysia is @moe.gov.my . The contact info provided in the fraudulent email directs you to contact a myway.com account. Myway.com is a free, web based email service - anyone can sign up for it, at any time, without providing any personally identifying information. Thus, scammers like to use it, especially that in this case there are some similarities between the official domain name and the free one.

The scanned documents you received arecertainly fraudulent. Scammers often use that trick to make people believe that they are in receipt of official documents.

When you signed up on our forum, you were sent a confirmation email with a link that allows you to activate your account. Once you do that, you will have access to all the features on our forum, and will be able to send private messages to member.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to let us know. :)

Yes, this is yet another variation of the same employment scam. In those fraudulent offers, you will see a wide variety of jobs being offered, from teaching positions, through engineering, to hotel staff openings.

Yet, no matter what occupation is offered, it still remains the same employment scam.

Thanks for posting! :thumbup1:

My name is Basit and i also got the job offer from this Bhd recruitment agency,singapore...all was good at the beggining. I got the job offer for IT officer for AGAN construction company,Bintulu,Sarawak.www.aganconstruction.com. what surprises me is that, this is an active website. when they asked me for money as security deposit, that is when i realized it is a scam and finally i checked in this site and found out that it is a scam. thanks to you guys.

Also is there anyway to get these guys???why this website is still working (www.aganconstruction.com),when it is being used for a scam???
I did not send them any money or loose anything, but it is just fair on others, that these people get caught.

Upon a very quick inspection, the website might belong to a completely uninvolved and innocent construction company. There is no reason to shut them down if they are not actively involved in the scamming. It's not unusual for a scammer to refer to a real website and an innocent company, yet insist you email them at "myaddress@yahoo.com".

Did the email address the scammers emailed you from end in "@aganconstruction.com"? If so, then the site needs to be shut down. If not, the company's name is merely being used by scammers, which is not grounds for shutting down the site.

This recruitment company called BHD recruitment,Singapore has send me an employment offer from your company for the post of IT officer. Can you please let me know if you do have a vacancy in your company and you have send me the job offer... and this is the reply i got from the same E-mail address(info@aganconstruction.com)....

Dear *Removed by the moderator

We have issued a letter of offer in your name and awaiting a
compulsory security bond.

Please contact our consultant

Thank you

Ms Angela

Also I checked the address of the Agan construction company which is given on their website(www.aganconstruction.com) and the address they have given is wrong...There is some bank at that adress, not this company. This is the address given on the website:

Agan constuction,Builders
Lot 3073 & 3074, Jalan Abang Galau 97000 Bintulu

Sarawak Malaysia

When i searched the internet for this address i found out that there is this Bank at that address(Hong Leong Bank).http://www.hlb.com.my/brbsar.html.this is the link where i found this adress from...if u scroll down you will see Hong Leong bank Bintulu branch at the same adress, which means there is no agan construction company there,so the website is fake.

Also let me copy, paste all the communication with these BHD recruitment guys. I want somehow to get these guys, so other people are saved from the scam. These are the E-mails i got from them....

That would be what we need, some sort of confirmation from someone that the site is involved directly in the scam. Most of the time, employment scams of this type are not apparent just from the site content itself. Now I can draft up a complaint letter to the host and see if they will shut it down.

By the way, we did receive your Contact Us form, but since we're already further along here in the thread, I'll keep all the information here.

The following has been sent to abuse@hostfresh.com

Hello,

We've been notified that the site http://www.aganconstruction.com is apparently involved in an employment scam. The scammers pose as a recruitment agency, BHD Recruitment, then send their scam targets to the website, which poses as a legitimate company in Malaysia. The "company" then claims the prospective employee needs to pay a fee before they can begin employment. The phone number is a mobile number and the email address on the registration is anonymous and free. The creation date was quite recent and the registration is for one year, also typical of scammers.

Creation Date: 19-Dec-2006
Expiration Date: 19-Dec-2007

You can read more about this scam, as well as the testimonial of someone who has been targeted by it, at this thread in our forum. There is extensive information there about the scam and the emails sent from the domain.

http://fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=3510

Should you need additional information from the target of the scam, or forwards of the original emails sent from the domain, please let me know, and I will ask their permission to pass on their direct contact details.

Please investigate this site and remove it if it violates your acceptable use policy. Thank you for your attention and time.

Thanks a lot Nyla! I would look forward to this site getting shut. Also somehow if we could get this BHD recruitment agency.

Nyla
30 December 2006, 01:45
Unless I'm overlooking it, there doesn't appear to be a website for BHD here in this thread, so there's nothing to shut down, only free email addresses. We generally don't waste time filing abuse reports on free email addresses. Getting them shut down costs the scammer nothing, they typically do not lose any "customer" data, and it takes up more of our time reporting it than it takes for them to set up a new one.

There's also no guarantee the host I reported the "construction" site to will shut it down. It was still operational just now, when I checked.

Well ok thanks anyways. I was talking about the construction site(to get it shut). BHD recruitment dont have any site of their own just E-mails, that is right.

Thanks again for the effort.

What is this Basit talking about here: He claimed to be an IT officer yet he is confusing all of us here with his stories.
You said you did not send any money to them but why saying a legitimate company should be shut down..if they are scam, it shouldnt be You alone thats would have complained..I personally check around and found only Basit talked about this company here.

Mr Basit must be a liar I guess. As a competent IT officer he should know whats right from wrong in the network.

Take care

I'm sure no one is surprised that the unregistered poster has an IP address that resolves to Malaysia.

If Agan Construction is indeed operating in a fair and legal manner, they certainly have nothing to fear from this thread. If, on the other hand, they are indeed asking for a fee from prospective employees, they should be exposed.

Others are certainly welcome to "personally check around" and draw their own conclusions as well.
