I received the same email scam. Contacting me through Avon.com. Its frustrating as a new representative to be receiving things like this. I was excited to get my first online order. Especially since it was well over $100. It did seem fishy since they wanted to pay with a Money Order. But I was excited non-the less. I decided to try to Facebook the company and was surprised to find that they didn't have a Facebook. I then goggled them and the first link that came up was this fraud alert site! After reading several posts here I am sure glad I did research the company. As you can see by the email I got below, that although their grammar is only slightly improving, the punctuation and email are becoming more professional sounding and therefore slightly more believable. I haven't responded with any information about myself other than a phone number (thankfully). I'm glad to have my Avon sisters looking out for me though!

I to have been caught in this scam. I cashed the check at my bank, and everything seemed legit. I didn't know about the scam until the police arrested me for passing a bad check. Now, not only do I have to prove that I'm innocent, I'll also have to pay back $2,000 to the bank. Not to mention the cost of the lawyer to help me get out of this. I received a 'New Contact Request' today that looked legitimate and when I responded with a request for a phone number I received the following email. It's the first time I received anything like this in the 5 years that I've been an Avon rep. I'm glad that I checked here before being suckered in.

My little sister did some searching and found that there is a TLW Modeling and Promotions listed on www.nyphotographics.com/Agencies/States/il.htm unfortunately the number 312/645-0880 that is listed is disconnected. According to Google maps the address that is listed TLW Modeling & Promotions, 101 W Grand Ave Chicago, IL 60610-4272 happens to be a dating service of some sort called It's Just Lunch and the number is 312/644-9999.
I hope this helps and as events unfold i will be more then happy to post.

It was too good to be true when I got an email from this lady. I am a new AVON rep and I will admit that I was excited. After researching/Googling the name TLW Modeling & Productions in Chicago, IL I ended up on Fraud Watchers and I am ever so grateful! :D

Apparently the police department that had arrested me has decided to open an investigation, all the information that my little sister found was also turned over to my lawyer and to the police department, my computer will be turned over to the police department so that they can hack into my hard drive in the hopes of tracing emails from this individual. Got a message last week from Wendy Cusimano about wanting avon products. So I got some products and replies. That's when I found your website and found the exact e-mail from her #235(I think). She just e-mailed me about the Fedx and my husband had just gotten the package when I came running out of the house to send it back. Am soooo glad that I had seen your website before it went too far. She had said that I was to cash the check and send her the difference cause it had her traveling money accidently included. Told her that she should look for someone else cause I don't have the time to do the amount of running that she is requiring. Just one thing to mention. Could you please have the fraud warning farther up on the modeling agencies google search page. I didn't see it the first time I check about the modeling agency and almost fell for the whole scam.

The troubling thing is the FedEx # is a good number and was tracked to our neighborhood but it was refused by the recipient which wasn't my daughter. Luckily, I have been able to nip this in the bud before my daughter really got into some serious trouble. She is more aware now of the evil that lurks behind an innocent email.

I received two emails, the one from the "Catherine" person and one from a Linda Peterson. That email is lhm3322@gmail.com. I'm really ticked off that these people are targeting Avon reps. How rude! Unfortunately I did order the products for "Linda", but have yet to receive the check. I will not cash it or attempt to cash it. I just wonder what I should do if I get it. I sure hope that word gets out to every rep in the nation about these people before it's too late. Good luck everyone and watch your backs!

They then listed a long list of products along with the qty. They said they would send me the payment. I was just about to place the order when I had a thought to Google the name of agency she gave me, nothing came up, I Googled the phone number and this is what I found. I sure am glad I thought to look it up.

I am an AVON rep, recently I also receive a request for assistance of a suspect telling me that her credit card did not work, to order several avon products, such as perfumes, eau de toilet, Anew products and such. I did kept playing the game, answering her e-mails until I did my Investigation her name is Patricia Smith she states on her e-mail that she is currently out of the country in London UK. but she has a trustee in the states, which is a 23 year old kid with the name of Ryan Gorenflo, well to make the story short she stated to send me payment as a cashier check or money order, guess what I did received 2 checks for one thousand each and the order was only 300.00, I did several calls to this person as hse provided her phone number which is a CA phone number 831-205-3052, i have report the money orders to Money Gram, they are fake, good thing I did not deposit them, I did e-mail her back and told her that everything was very questionable she has not e mail me back since. May be because she is mad the she had expend 17.00 to send fake money orders. Just be careful.

jeeplassie, there is something you can do about it. You can report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center. Go to there website and file a complaint and they start an investigation. Also report it to Avon so they can warn other Representatives. Hope this helps.


I am an avon rep, and I have been getting fraudulent emails about once a week for the past several weeks. One lady even wrote me twice, with the same information. None of them were from other countries, but they all tell me they need my information to send me a money order. They do not allow po boxes. I wrote one lady back and asked her why she can't accept a po box, and she told me it was because Fed Ex does not deliver to po boxes. I told her to use the USPS. I haven't heard back.
Another woman gave me an address, and when googled it ended up being a kaiser hospital.

In all the emails, I do write them back and explain that I will not order any products until the money I receive from them (at my po box) clears. I don't hear back from them after that, usually, unless they forgot they already tried to get me and write me again all brand new.

I have some of the emails saved. I am wondering if there is something I can do legally to catch these idiots? Isn't there a way they can catch them from the information in the headers? What are the legal recourses here? I don't want to just ignore them, I want to prosecute them....
