We mention now and then that scammers will defraud anyone, regardless of nationality, income etc.., They will steal from their fellow citizens, neighbours, the sick, the poor, the elderly, the handicapped, absolutely anyone. The more vulnerable are their choice target. And if their actions will likely cause someone to loose their life, that's not even a thought since it's totally irrelevant to them. Anyone who has worked fighting the 419 scams has seen this happen many times over. The horror stories are numerous, from totally ruined lives to suicides and all in between.
Here is another example of this. aa419.org has discovered another nest of fake sites which included a fake bank, fake security company, fake diplomatic courier, fake investment company AND a fake AIDS organization setup to steal money from people who wish to donate money to fight AIDS in Africa.
All six sites where setup by one criminal webmaster in Cote-d'Ivoire Africa on one web host. All designed as an accessory in Advance Fee Frauds. Five of the sites where the usual fake banks etc.., so you would think that would be enough for their criminal activities, but not these scums who saw an opportunity to steal a few extra dollars meant for AIDS victims in Africa, and this with the full knowledge that their action is likely to result in the death of a few more African men, woman and children who will not get the needed medicine and treatment because that extra money will have been stolen. This did not slow them down for a second. As part of their scam, to make the bait more successful, they even used photos of poor Africans with AIDS taken from legitimate AIDS organization web sites.
They also setup an online form to be filled by generous donors, requesting their personal details such as names/address/phone numbers, passport numbers, banking details, complete resume information about schooling and employment etc.., so that when their victims have been robbed of their AIDS donation money, these criminals can then use this information to attempt I.D. theft and rob them further.
The site www.stopsidaca.com is still up as of this writing. aa419.org and others have requested the host to kill it but that is taken longer than we would have hoped. The site uses the logo stolen from the UNAIDS web site, and most of the text and photos where listed from Care-France's web site.
