This is a set of questions for our LEOs. Would you guys mind posting information to this thread for victims of fake check scams to give them some idea of what to expect when reporting a fake check. I am mainly thinking about people who have received a check, but have done some research on the internet and worked out that they are being scammed. Naturally, they don't want to deposit the check into their bank accounts, but they may wish to report the check to police.
What kind of questions will police ask them? What kind of information will the police want or need for the report? What happens if the police refuse to take a report? What will happen to the report?

The best course for a victim of the counterfeit scam is to file a report with federal agency like secret service or FBI, since it mostly involve different states in USA or a foreign country in term of financial institution and the scam ring, local police will give you a run around most of the time due to jurisdiction issue , also lack of proper training to deal with crime of this nature make it hard for them to see this as a crime from the victim perspective.:P

I was surfing the net to find a reasonable business to write my resume. The prices varied
quite abit so I just choose the cheapist. (jim@cheapandfastresume.com) The price was $49 I bought it, they asked for some personal information, which I thought they needed.
Then came back with a cover letter and free internet posting for $30 more, which I bought
then after receiveing more personal info they required another $30 for a second page, then they wanted another $20 for something I did not even bother to read. I ask if they were some kind of scam. I got back a very generic email saying they could not help me and was refunding my money....
That has yet to be seen, however some one out there has alot of my personal information
