Hi,
I think I have become a victim of this UKpostexpress. I met an English guy in a dating online website. He courted me through emails and phone calls and said he will marry me, so on and so forth. Then he said he was sending gifts to me and he emailed me the receipt, a UKPostexpress receipt, that details a vaio laptop, iphone, jewelries, rose and photos as content. There was even a tracking number that you can track online as well.
Anyway, the parcel is supposed to arrive in Manila from UK within five days, but the UKPostExpress in Malaysia emailed me saying that the parcel was on hold because of customs violations and ask me to pay customs penalty via Western Union, which I did, shelled out P40,000 plus. The next day, they emailed me again saying there's a penalty again in the amount of P60,000, whcih I again paid via Western Union. But the parcel is still with them. And this guy I met in the Internet keeps calling me as well every day saying that he will go to the Philippines to meet me.
I have the inkling that I have been scammed. Please sir, tell me it this is really a scam.
thank you

Hi potpot and welcome to Fraudwatchers.
Yes I'm afraid you have been scammed. UKpostexpress doesn't exist. It's bogus.
You must stop paying and cut off all communications with this criminal, because as long as he thinks he can get more money from you, he will continue to contact you. That's how advance fee fraud works.
Lovescams can be devastating. If I may make a suggestion, that you sign up at our sister site http://internet-love-scams.org They have a great team of volunteers that specialize in that type of fraud and they will be happy to advise you on steps to take to protect yourself.

I have visual scaned the site address, it is based in orlando florida

7 March 2009, 16:26
Thank you Mr. John Norman for that info
Orlando Florida, it makes sense to me now
This English guy's name is Matt Stone (with cell: +447031815950) and his photos have a boat, sea, river, and tropical trees as background and people just wear light clothes. No way that could be London, but he said he was living in London, which is a cold area!
Well, I was really duped. and this crazy guy still calls me!
Where can i report this. At least we know where they operate, it's in Florida. Is there a way that this guy can be caught?
I'm also wondering how this guy can call every day using a cellphone? Are they using a VOIP so that they won't be charged for long distance calls?

hello potpot
maybe he is using a cloned phone, if it is him that calls you then possible he is using a broadband phone that give him free calls to your country, try blocking his number.

This English guy's name is Matt Stone
Fake name. No scammer will ever use their real name.
with cell: +447031815950
That's not a cell, it's a UK Redirection number, commonly called "Follow Me" or "Personal Number". Any number starting wityh +44 70* are typically only ever used by scammers in conjunction with online/email scams. It will redirect to a mobile phone in another country, probably Africa. It is not traceable.
Where can i report this.
Internet Crime Complaint Center (http://www.ic3.gov/) should be your first port of call.
I'm also wondering how this guy can call every day using a cellphone? Are they using a VOIP so that they won't be charged for long distance calls?
Why would it be a problem for a scamming low-life scum-bag to afford international phone calls?

Hi Makimariano12 and John
I'd like to say that I found the same story. I went through dating website named www.smallworldfriends.com and got the message from this guy. Matt Stone. Exactly same steps and same story. Now it's around one month from the first day 6 Feb 09.You can see there by registering and go through matt0062 I like to know the same person or may be he used other person photos?
Fortunately, I have my friend who is the journalist and his husband is UK journalist. He said that I was cheated when I told them my story and sent the message from that Malaysian who said that he's from Uk postexpress. I didn't sent any money.
My friend is going to write this story in newspaper. I forget to tell you that. We are Thai. She will publish in English newspaper in Thailand soon. It will be good to warn other people.
Thank you very much Mr.John that your message make us be more confident about this guy. That is cheat!
Best regards

My sister also met someone on an online dating service. He sent her a couple of pictures, starting phoning daily and was immediately in love with her, he claimed to be a Canadian who lived nearby, but was currently working overseas. So far - so good. But then it was time to come home and the pay checks for his work crew hadn't arrived yet and the hotel would not allow them to leave. He needed money so he could pay the bill and they could all catch their flight home. She called me and said she thought it was a scam, but how could she know for sure because he sounded so sincere and even the hotel manager got on the phone and verified that they could not leave until the bill was paid.. She emailed me the pictures he had sent her and I immediately determined that they were pictures of a model from a legitimate agency's website. We downloaded one of the pictures he hadn't sent to her and then sent him an email that only half of what he asked for could be sent and she was on her way to the western union kiosk. He emailed her back thanking her and promising to pay it back with interest when he returned home. We sent one final email that read something like, "by the way, to make sure no one else claims your money I gave specific instructions that only you, with proper identification can collect the money and to be sure it is you, I also sent this picture." Now he knew he was busted. She never heard from him again, but changed her cell number and email address anyway. When all was said and done I asked her if she remembered how to check pictures that are sent to her and she laughed and said, 'oh yeah, I just send them to my sister.'

This Matt Stone emailed me first at http://friends.lakbaypilipinas.com, an online dating website. He's profile is matt0062 as well. He also started emailing and calling me for more than a month, February six was the start. And he is still ringing my phone, even though in our last phone conversation, I was already exposing holes in his story and he sensed that. I found out from the small details he managed to come up with in between the sweet talks, that the guy in the photo doesn't match the description of the guy in the profile nor in the photos he sent me. The man I was talking to isn't the man in the photo. Scary indeed! And yet he still keeps ringing me.
Anyway, here are the other details of this scam:
Campbell White is the name of the UKPostexpress personnel in Malaysia (+60149659739)
The person, he claims is from the Malaysian Customs, is Mohhamed Lamine. This last guy was the recipient of the amount I transferred via Western Union.
Are there any organizations that can make these guys stop scamming women?

Hi potpot
I went to your http://friends.lakbaypilipinas.com matt0062 profile Unfotunately, all photos were removed. My friend contacted Western Union, but we've thought they will protect themself and not do anything to ctach him. He also found that someone called Malasian police but didn't hear back fom the police. It might be just small cases. I think if they continue cheating more women. It will be the big case finally.
I also has the Mohammed name and address that he sent me for transferring money.
NAME : MOHAMMED N. LAMINE
DESTINATION / ADDRESS : 56 Jalan Ampang Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Lumpur 55000, Malaysia.
Dear Mr.Jon
Could you please suggest that we can do something to arrest him?
Best regards

@hamilton - The hotel manager your sister spoke with is probably another scammer. They often work in gangs. Thanks for spreading the word about love scams!
@m_o - Unfortunately we can't put them in jail, and here's why:
1.) We aren't an official law enforcement group, nor are we related to any. We do have some police officers on the site, but we're mostly volunteers, doing this on our own time.
2.) A great deal of scammers use disposable, non-tracable names, emails and phone numbers, so they would not be able to be found in person.
3.) Many of the scammers are in Nigeria, where the laws in various other countries don't affect them. Many officials there accept bribes, and arrests there are few and far between. We have had a very good relationship with the South African police in the past, however, and many scammers have been arrested in that country. As time goes on and they become more successful, some of them leave their home country and base themselves in places like the United Kingdom, the USA, South Africa, Amsterdam, Ireland, Australia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and various other countries. It is easier to get an arrest in some of these places and the authorities are usually not able to be bribed, so this is much more risky for the scammers.
As Poirot said, the best place to go for love scams is www.internet-love-scams.org . They focus exclusively on love scams.

Hi,
Went to ILS website and someone gave suggestion on how to locate IP address from the emails coming from Matt Stone and the Malaysian UKPostexpress guy.
Using http://www.maxmind.com/app/locate_ip and MapQuest, found out Matt Stone's email was coming from UK near a hospital.
Then the UKPostexpress email was coming from a park in Orlando, Florida. The email was hosted by Hostdime.com, which when I googled was in forums for harboring websites that scam people

Those are not scams but affiliates of worldfriendsnetworks.com. They are made from the WN's template which explains the similarities. All social networking sites are used and abused by scammers without exception. That doesn't make the site a scam.

Hi Potpot
Good. I've also checked in www.smallworldfriends.com and he has been suspended as well. I just worry that he will register again and change name and details. We have to be careful. We know his style but other people won't know. I don't know how we can warn other people.
Just in Thailand, my friend is writing the story to the English daily newspaper here.

Hotels in London - Hilton Hotels
http://www.hilton.com/en/hi/promotions/hi_hotel_london_en/index.jhtml?WT.srch=1
Large legitimate hotels like the Hilton's will not send job offers to unknown persons. Note that the email does not even give a specific alleged job location nor is there a phone number listed for contact purposes.
The above email didn't come from The Hilton.
