Found the job through Craigslist for my husband. He applied and they called for a phone interview. Got the job.

It's an online pc co. where you fill out trial surveys and get paid for it. They get the prizes though. They pay you via PayPal. $20 for the first 3 surveys, then the more you fill out, the more your pay increases.

They didn't ask for ss# or any important info except PayPal # so they can transfer the money from surveys.

Is this a scam or not? He hasn't started yet and I'm starting to get a bit nervous.

Anyone out there know of them?[/COLOR]

Hmm... an interestingly convoluted business model if it's true.

You would basically be going around signing up for various offers on websites all over the internet, the way I understand it. Some would require your credit card details and small payments, and most will require accurate personal details. This carries obvious risks.

One has to wonder where the money comes from. I would guess a large share of the income is from people who do not read the various agreements for the offers properly, and mistakenly do not cancel trial offers. I don't see how this could make sense otherwise. I'd recommend reading carefully what you are actually signing up for, and how you can cancel it. They tell you this on the site too.

The website has been online since August according to the domain registration. I can't find any feedback on them from a Google search. If they simply neglected to pay people most likely there would have been a few complaints against them somewhere. At least that far it doesn't look like a complete scam.

It would be interesting to see how expensive those offers are that they require you to sign up for. I couldn't quite make sense of it from a quick check.

Reasons To BeWare About Onyxpays.com
* Registered August 2008
* No Metawords Optimization
* Barely any promotion (except on craigslist)
* Questionably Written (FTC has closed sites have borderline wording. This one at one point reads like you are paid to be recruited to later tell you that you are paid to sign up for offers)
* Hire's everyone
* My tests in past have shown offer sites to rarely come through with prizes and their terms of service is so tedious if you forget to dot an i they disqualify you.
* High Financial Risk: Asking you to sign up for tons of offers, then cancel before the trial expires (most people don't remember all and this could get costly and time consuming)
* Misleading (An hour a day to sign up, then once offers start expiring an hour a day to unsub from them, some require phone calling to them and a verification process. This makes your 20.00 an hour turn into 10.00 an hour
and with some companies I have called to cancel turns it into 5.00 an hour
* Asks you to use your credit card over the net: Identity Theft through Keylogging
* Easy? Trust me an hour of repetitive signing up for, organizing and unsubing from is no easy task! It's not all point and click..
* A lot of these companies continue to call you after and also sell your info
which is hidden deep in terms of service they will do
* In a year there should be some testimonies on non-commercial sites both good and bad. It is normal for lazy people or unsatisfied people to say it doesn't work. There is nothing which tells you this company has no history
which means very few if any sign ups have followed through.

****End Result****
A scam? NAH, but I do believe this WILL lead you into some debt and offer scams! I believe this was some person's clever idea that has not been properly promoted and is fruitless! So great idea, but poor research, promotion and follow through. Someone's pet project that will cost you
in time, risk and money.. Nothing you can make real money from is every truely free or easy.

It took all day to convince him not to do any of those surveys they sent him. Finally, the next day, he agreed with me, and called to say he wouldn't be working with them.

So we are both back to job searching for him.

Thanks for all advice.

Onyx Pays, is currently offering positions which are specifically designed for people seeking extra income while working from home on their own schedule. We pay our employees daily for their completed assignments.

For Additional Clarification see Below:

* Registered August 2008

==> True we are a new company.

* No Metawords Optimization

==>We are currently developing our keywords/metatags etc.

* Barely any promotion (except on craigslist)

==> CL was the easiest way for us to get started however we are currently starting to list elsewhere.

* Questionably Written (FTC has closed sites have borderline wording. This one at one point reads like you are paid to be recruited to later tell you that you are paid to sign up for offers)

==>We try to be as clear as possible on our website. We also provide a phone conversation where interested persons can ask any questions.

* Hire's everyone

==> We only Hire people who we feel are competent after the phone interview.

* My tests in past have shown offer sites to rarely come through with prizes and their terms of service is so tedious if you forget to dot an i they disqualify you.

==> We have experience with the freebie sites that we use and our experience has shown that they are true to their word and offerings.

* High Financial Risk: Asking you to sign up for tons of offers, then cancel before the trial expires (most people don't remember all and this could get costly and time consuming)

==> We supply a spreadsheet for tracking information and this is stressed in the phone call and training.

* Misleading (An hour a day to sign up, then once offers start expiring an hour a day to unsub from them, some require phone calling to them and a verification process. This makes your 20.00 an hour turn into 10.00 an hour and with some companies I have called to cancel turns it into 5.00 an hour

==> This is an estimation. There is no phone calling for verification. People can work on their own pace. we have not come across any cancellation fees to date.

* Asks you to use your credit card over the net: Identity Theft through Keylogging

==> OnyxPays.com does not ask for any Credit Card details whats-so-ever! We don't have anything to do with Identity Theft, Key Logging or anything of this nature.

* Easy? Trust me an hour of repetitive signing up for, organizing and unsubing from is no easy task! It's not all point and click..

==> We supply everybody who signs up with us a spreadsheet to make the process as easy and straight forward as possible.

* A lot of these companies continue to call you after and also sell your info
which is hidden deep in terms of service they will do.

==> When you sign up with OnyxPays.com you are not bound to anything. You can unsubscribe from us at any time and you will not be contacted again for any reason.

* In a year there should be some testimonies on non-commercial sites both good and bad. It is normal for lazy people or unsatisfied people to say it doesn't work. There is nothing which tells you this company has no history which means very few if any sign ups have followed through.

==> This is a good point and we intend to start gathering feedback from our current employees in the near future.
