Any mention of payment before you actually SEE the animal is a fraud. Any mention of Cameroon or other African nations in conjunction with pets, free or otherwise are frauds. You cannot import live animals like this.

I contacted James Smith after an ad in the local Greensboro News and Record and was directed to the very same Winston Gale. I have contacted the newspaper and they have frozen his account. The local police have put me in touch with Federal Authorities. Did you find someone who was scammed by these same people? I would really like to put a stop to these ruthless theives.


I was gullabe and believed these scammers, too. Fortunately, because of my husband's keen sense, I googled "puppy scam" to find this site and many more. The scammers that emailed me followed the scam almost to the tee of what the scam sites have said. SICKENING!!!!

my girlfriend fell for this and it cost us £300 so far and there waiting for another £250 which they wont be getting. first of all they where in my city which is in england when she made contact they told us they had just moved to scotland and the landlord wasnt going to let them keep the dog. if we still wanted the dog she would give it away for next to nothing but we would have to pay the shipping fee. so being fools she agreed we sent the money by moneygram and got an email saying the time the dog would arive. few hours later we got another email saying that the insurance hadnt been paid and that the seller should have told us we had to pay it and that we would get 9o% back in cash when the dog was delived thats when the alarm bells start to ring.lol

Trying to pack Lilly's stuffs together.just an advise.before bringing Lilly Home make sure you have removed from her space any toxic house plants,chemicals,electrical cords that look like they would be fun to chew, small articles that could be swallowed, cleaning chemicals, or open holes in anything large enough for her to wiggle into.. You also take her to the vet within the first week alongside with the short records i will be sending,Your vet will be able to look at them and establish a vaccination schedule for her.i will be sending her over with her things,like toys remain of her canned food stuffs,feeding bowls and brushes? all that will have no use here.one more thing,the agency told me that they will inform you on payment and delivery via email tomorrow morning so make sure that you check your mails in the morning.i will talk to you when i get back from the agency tomorrow.thank you and best wishes.don't forget to inform me when she gets home ok.email your names please. talk tomorrow.

After I insisted the transfer of ownership could be done online, she ignored all questions there after, only insisting that I send her the money. Being soft-hearted as I am and after numerous "assurances from "sandra" aka Sirri Albertine, I gave in and sent her the money via Western Union. Luckily I caught the name difference and googled her. I found all of these postings with her name all over them. Fortunately I was able to recover my money before she recieved it, but she does have all of my information now...my name, address, telephone number. Thanks a million for posting her dishonesty and conartistry. You all saved me $100 and a lecture from my husband!!!

I was also recently scammed.... they assured me that alll I had to pay for my puppy was the 97.00 return flight home fee and then when the puppy never showed up they called and asked for more money and even have gone so far as tell me that the puppy delivery people are held up in Atlanta due to them misplacing the papers.

They even went as far as sending me flight confirmation that she had arrived... and then later told me she was still in Atlanta. Were I received an email this morning stating she still was and needed some info before she could be brought to me. I just told them that I would have my brother who is an attorney in Atlanta come to the airport and pick her up, I still have not heard anything back from them, and after seeing the other posts like this I know for sure now this was a scam! Thank you for the info!

It's a scam, just like the other 52 pages-worth of pet scams. There's so much red tape involved in shipping pets from country to country that you can virtually guarantee any offer of a pet from another country is a scam.

Sending money by Western Union is like throwing cash down a dark alley. Once someone picks it up, it's gone, and you have no hope of getting it back or identifying the person who picked it up.

The Python is now in Belfast International Airport in Uk and has been held for refundable insurance they further explained to me that this money they are asking is going to be refunded back to you cash at the time of delivery of the python O.k so you have to get in contact with the airport now to see how you can do to get the python continue his flight to your location O.k.
I have already used all my money to pay for his flight not knowing that the insurance papers expiered so the airlines are saying that we have to pay in the money before the python can continuse his flight .

Well there is nothing I can do, I suggest you get your snake back to you. I have also forwarded all our emails to the international fraud department. So I can file a claim against this airlines and have sent them your name and all of your information. The United States does not allow other countries to do this. Why police is not working with it???

Mostly because it's difficult to impossible to identify someone using a fake name, a free, anonymous email address, and (probably) fake ID, if any ID at all. And even if they could identify them, the scammer is probably in another country. Even if the police located near the victim wanted to help, the police in the scammer's country may not care. It also costs a lot of money to conduct such an investigation.

I am interested in getting a Siberian Husky puppy and found an advertisement for one online with an email address (kellybella@ymail.com). I sent off an email in good faith, and received a well-meaning email, outlining how well-loved this puppy was, etc etc. I believed that she was in Scotland, UK and I was interested in driving up there to see the puppy in its current home ( I believe all good pet owners-to-be should do this) but felt pushed to pay the fees for the 'safe' delivery of this little one. I asked how much these fees would be and was surprised when she advised it was as little as £180. I re-read both emails to be sure of no hidden charges and couldn't help but notice how broken the English read, surely even in these times of 'text talk' it would still read properly and also thte fact that she started the email and kept referring to me as 'my dear' startled as I didn't know this person from the next. Call it instinct but I decided to check out the given email address on a popular search engine and a few advertisements for various puppy breeds. I also came across this site. I only hope more people have a serious think before purchasing an animal online & if it sounds too good to be true...

I have the same case, but i wrote to web page and they give me his IP address. IP address is 41.204.79.39. So this will be easier to track him down. I hope so. I call police and Western Union and report him.

About the only thing that IP address tells you is that he was probably using a computer in Cameroon, unfortunately.

Given that most scammers use public web cafe machines for their scamming, the same machine may not have the same IP address two days running and that the police in Cameroon will probably not care even if you could give the scammer's real name and home address, the IP address isn't really all that useful for tracking down the scammer. With proxy servers available for free, it's not even certain that the website actually recorded the IP address of the machine the scammer was using at the time.

Finding out if the IP actually leads anywhere useful would require getting a search warrant or similar court order to get the required information from all the parties it passed through. It would take a lot of resources and time. To be honest, most scams don't net enough money to make that worth the police resources.

Western Union might add the receiver name and address to a list and warn other customers that try to transfer to that scammer, but that's about it. WU doesn't actually verify ID, identities, names and addresses of receivers. The chances of your scammer using even one piece of real information is slim. He's likely used a fake name, address, and possibly ID.

I have just been involved in a near scam... i seen the cutest little teacup brown yorkshire terrier puppy online for sale £100 and enquired about it...the advert was dated June and location being London... so i asked if it still for sale...AMAZINGLY IT WAS!
Well cut the story short it was a scam as he insisted he airmail this pup to me from Belfast and insisted i pay £200 by western union...
I actually got suspicious when in his first email to me he asked me my religion!!!
Anyway i took his email address and goggled it and thank you fraud watchers website i discovered i was being taken for a ride long before i even considered sending money.
I wonder why this advert is still posted online? There are several of the same little dog Nina.
Scammers are very easy to spot nowadays... never send money for anything unless you are buying from a secure well known webshop.
Puppies by airmail would be the biggest giveaway to a scam i think!
Plus i also believe a yahoo email address is a giveaway aswell.
Don't be caught out some people nowadays are unreal!

IPATA (www.ipata.com) are a not for profit organisation. They don't ship pets, nor do they ask for fees to ship pets.

Also, AirAnimal wouldn't be involved in any sort of scam at all. I know the guy who owns that company and whoever it is that's running the scam is being cowardly enough to hide behind the guy's good name.

Can you give me the website addresses they claim to use? I want to get them shut down urgently.

I was recently looking for a pug puppy on the internet and lucked out-or so I thought. I found a woman named KELLY HARRISON on Craigslist that posted her puppies in the city where I grew up as a child, so I thought it would be no problem to pick up the puppy and pay when I saw the dog and made sure it was healthy. This is when she informed me that she was out of the counrty for 8 months doing research and the dog would be shipped from Douala, Cameroon. I thought I was being smart to look up the city and country on Google Maps, and sure enough they did exist. I thought at first this was legitimate and went to work the next day bragging about my new puppy. When I gave details about how the transaction was going to happen, EVERYONE in my office told me I was being scammed. My husband and I talked about it for a long time and came to the conclusion that worse case scenario we would take this experience and learn from it. A day later, I was $160 poorer. I sent the money Western Union as she instructed and just like that I was scammed. This morning I got a phone call from 'Cameroon Airlines' where I was informed that there was pet insurance ($350) that I was required to pay in order to ship the puppy today. He was quick to tell me that it was refundable...I would be given the $350 cash back upon safe delivery of the pup. Good thing we didn't have the money or I would have sent them that also! So, needless to say, I had to hear a lot of -I told you so's- this morning when I got to work. I have read other people's experiences and I'm glad to say I was a lucky one-some people have spent a lot more money than I have just to be scammed the same exact way. If you have any question whether you are being scammed or not, one thing I've noticed is most of these e-mails have poor punctuation and end many phrases or sentences with "ok". Keep this in mind.
