Ladies and Gents I want to make you aware of a new Lad threat coming out of Toronto. There is a group of Lads in Toronto who were specializing in the counterfeit checks and direct wire transfers to bank accounts, who have taken their identity theft to a new level.
Their leaders had been dabbling in stolen credit card information and Ebay scams, but they are now using a new modality.
They are taking the name and address and phone number of the victims of their other scams and running INTELUS $10 searches on the victims getting the victim's date of birth and Social Security number. We have proof of this part, and are working on gathering proof of how they are using the information to steal the identities of the victims.
We believe they are using the info to open credit card accounts and bank accounts in the victims names. They could then use the created bank accounts for their money laundering of other victim's money, and of course max out the credit card accounts in less than a month's time.
