I received a the message dated 20th April 2006, sent by you to my chamber. I was contact by the US Central Justice Department Washington DC to provide a legal assistance to you regarding the

Please forward the OMB 1115-0241 Form to me with a recent passport size ("3cm by 3cm" or "5cm by 5cm")photograph taken within six months of you.

Please note and understand that, there some certain small charges associated to my legal assistance to you. US Department of Justice are aware of the charges. Also note that an affidavit will be sworn on your behalf at the Nigerian High Court for Legal backings. This affidavit will give you the needed legal cover to take up any employment through out your stay in the United States.

The charges are;
consultation fee of $170.00
Service fee $1100.00
Cost of Affidavit $420.00
stamp fee $60

This is the exact charges for this legal service. Let me know if you still needs my service

You did not mention the reason for these legal fees. That would have been easier to identify. I cannot find anything about a lawfirm called Wasiri Chambers. And no respectable law firm would use a free webmail such as patmail.com as their mail service. On the other hand, "patmail.com" is being used widely by scammers, for everything from fake lotteries to fake check scams on auction sites.

Also, I can't see the U.S. Justice Department transacting with an atorney through his Patmail address. And the sloppy way this message is put together indicate some cut & paste:

"...provide a legal assistance to you regarding the

Please forward the OMB 1115-0241 Form to me ..."

This looks very much like a scam.

US Department of Justice are aware of the charges.

Tell him that you will contact the DoJ to confirm this, and I guarantee you he will come up with some excuse for why you shouldn't.

Better yet, do contact the DoJ. But use the phone number from the phone book, NOT the mobile number the lad will provide you with.
