GOT CHEATE BY A PLACEMENT AGENCY IN NEWZEALAND

Good day.

I was assessed by a placement agency based in New Zealand and offered that they would provide placement services. They appeared genuine in all the communications and instructed my pay a fees to their collection agent's bank account in India ( ICICI bank, one of the branches in Mumbai). But after receiving the money there has been no communication at all for almost 4 years. I would like to get advise about where to approach bring this frauds to justice?

Hi Sunil,

I'm sorry to hear that you were scammed.

How do you know they were in NZ? It would be extremely odd for a NZ company to accept money via an Indian bank account. My guess is that it was in fact India-based scammers pretending to be a NZ Placement Agency.

If you can provide more information about the placement agency (name, address, phone, website, email address, copies of their emails to you) I can give you a more accurate opinion.

But, four years later, your chances of bringing anyone to justice are about zero.

If you ever want help or contact with Legit companies in New Zealnd you can make contact with N.Z immigration service who can point you in the right direction. You can also allways search the N.Z companies office to see if they are real, that info will tell you company name, address directors and so on.
But there is no way a N.Z would have you put funds into an account in india
