View Full Version : Do I really get to make $180K/yr or not?

I got the following e-mail a few days after posting my resume on a ligitimate (at least I think) on-line service. Its not asking for any up front money, but evertything else almost exactly matches what this site reports to be a scam. They even got my target designation right.
Technip is a real honest-to-goodness company and the DPR (Department of Petrolium Resources) actually exists, but not at the address given for Abuja at the bottom or Port Harcourt at the top. Plus, Joe Wein's site tells me that this is a disposable phone in Nigeria. And "engineer.com"- questionable at best.
Even though the area is under terrible strife over the petrolium trade and the government might be corrupt, and the local militant group (MEND) has threatened attacks.....What an adventure!!! Not to mention $15,000 USD a month.

So. Do I really get to make $180K/yr or not? Should I contact the Human Resources people at the real Technip Group site, which, by the way, lists several projects they are engaged in, but none that were located in Abuja that were activly searching for applicants.

If it sounds to good to be true........don't get your hopes up, kid!

Thanks,
Bugsurfer

Hi Bugsurfer,

Your own research has answered your own question, but to confirm, yes this stinks of a scam, without doubt

The real company may wish to know as they can take steps to have the listings removed from the job site, or contact the job site directly (point them to this thread to back up your fraud report). It is actually very common to come into contact this type of dodgy job scam. Well done for spotting it.
