Thanks for posting this. It's a typical phishing email, and would contain a link that may appear to be the real bank. The link would actually take you to a compromised website, or special site created for the collection of personal details.

You can report this type of email to the Anti Phishing Working Group [link (http://www.antiphishing.org/report_phishing.html)].

These has become so many for the laet 2 days I received the same from AXIS and HDFC. Looking at the url I got the doubt. It read as follows:-

Dear Customer,

HDFC Bank continues to provide security controls to protect information about you, we believe it is extremely important for you to share in the responsibility for security. Notice to ensure that only you have access your HDFC NetBanking account and to ensure a safe HDFC Online Banking experience, we require for your account information for better security.

To verify your Information at this time, please visit our secure server webform by clicking the link below...

This alert relates to your Online Banking Profile only.

These butchers shoudl be killed, lucky me that I came to know about this by lookig at the URL.

Even I got following mail with a Link:

Dear customer,

Your access to online services has been suspended. Due to a miss-match access code between your online access details during our last maintanance earlier this week.

You are now been asked to re-activate your online account to help us update our server informations to match with our latest upgrade, Please follow the re-activation reference below:
