Does this email look familiar to anyone? <pets_nature94@yahoo.com> It seems like it should be legit, but once again, the phone number listed is a non working number. VERY FRUSTRATING!

The email address was created December 20th 2007, according to Yahoo, and this of course looks like a typical scammer address.

What phone number? What advert?

The more detail you can give the better.

565 is not the USA code for Bellevue, it's 465. No idea where 565 goes.

Did you get an email from this Yahoo account? Can you provide the email header information? If you can, it will provide much needed evidence concerning the location of the sender. Do you know how to get header information from your email?

I have started an investigation of my own, but it may take a day or more to gain a response from the person. Please do not send any money or personal banking details, or even your address.

We will find out what is going on soon enough, but right now I suspect this to be an African (Cameroon) scam or similar.

No. This is most certainly a scammer. I will continue to investigate, but please do not deal with this person at all right now.

I'm going to split the posts made by 'confused' and my replies as it serves as a good example for the archives, especially with the following:-

I asked the scammer why the advertisement stated a location of Washington but the pups are apparently in Cameroon. In addition I asked for a copy of their export license and a vetinary report on the puppy. The reply was less than helpful, and yet another sign of a scammer trying to look legitimate.

yea on my advert it was puppy in USA.that was before i came down here to hand over some pets to some clients but i was disappointed by the clients and so i am just trying to raise my transport .right now i have taken all the pups to the airport and pay a deposit so that any serious buying can have it in no time and i did gave you ad to the counter vet director so i am sure he must send you a male and when he does that get back to me.for all you inquire it comes with the pup.it is in the crate.well if you do not believe me then you can as well leave it.

So the documentation I require as part of my *import* is now in a crate with a puppy at the airport in Cameroon? There is not even a remote possibility that a bona-fide breeder/owner would do such a thing.

Next we come to expected slight of hand, and more evidence of this illegal operation.

Amarillo International Airport is in TEXAS, USA. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rick_Husband_Amarillo_International_Airport) So how come the email comes from Kenya?

The email address "@AirportEmail.com" is a FREE webmail account owned by the group known as "UltimateEmail.com" (see the tag line advertisement on the bottom of the email above. Nothing to do with any real airport at all.

Then a second email from the same address, but now from the "Pets Department".

I find it odd that your ad was listed among those for the Seattle, WA and Portland,OR areas. If you are not located where you originally stated that you were, then we are not interested in your puppy. Also, maybe you should correct your listed address if you live in on an entirely different continent! This is a very frustrating waste of time for those of us who are looking for an actual Yorkie puppy!!!!!

No problem confused, this scamming Cameroonian is busted wide open and for all to see. You have done the right thing and said you are no longer interested, from this point you should ignore the scammer completely.
