Hi,

I have been emailing with a company in China and negotiating prices. But before I place an order (it is $15,000 + so I am trying to get as much background as possible)

They are called Apexking (http://www.apexking.com). Their business description is that they deal in various products including manufacturing of their own. I am wondering if anybody out there has purchased from them before and if so what the transaction was like.

Thanks! I appreciate any and all responses.

P.S. I am new here so I'm not even sure if I'm posting in the right place. Any advice along the lines of nubeness is also welcome.

It seems to be the exact same site as this:

I can't access this site either, nothing seems to work. Can't say much about it except that it could easily be a scam, and for 15,000 you should really consider getting some professional assistance. There are people in China you can hire for these things.

do you know of any services to moderate transactions that are reliable. How are they paid, as a flat fee or as a percentage of the transaction?

I don't understand, you mean an LC or escrow? Check with your bank about LCs, and for example www.escrow.com for how escrow works.

If you are looking for someone to check out Chinese companies you can find some pointers here:
