The Cameroon scammers are at it again, with chihuahuas this time.
They even set me a picture, and the dog had a different name on its collar!!!!
Listed below is the "UK" persons first email (that sounds OK) and last email set to me, check on the wording.

Watch out for the wording, its all wrong, and below that the Cameroon "delivery service" emaill!!!!
Plus, they are using a real websites headers and banners to look offical, I have informed them of this.

Glad you didn't loose any money. As for catching the scammer, that is a task that would not interest your local authorities. If you have not actually been scammed, you have no case. Even then, if you have been scammed, in most cases the amounts are so low that the police would not be in a position to assist.

It would require a large amount of international cooperation to accomplish anything, which costs large amounts of money.

Even with that being said, you do not know who the scammer is. You cannot identify them by name and street address. They use fake names, fake addresses, anonymous mobile phones and disposable email addresses.

It's a shame yes, but the reality is that there is little one can do. However, getting the word out, educating and assisting people is the way that the fight is won.

I also found an ad in the free ads for a 3 month old pug puppy, who was in leeds but turned out she is in cameroon, i have not sent any money as I checked this so called money gram thing out at the post office and the place where I was suppose to send the money could not be found in the postoffice book of places for money grams,so I have done nothing since but write this

Thanks for posting... this is most definitely a scam - there is no puppy, there are no "costs" - there is only a scammer at the other end waiting to steal your money.

Do you have the email address that this scammer used to send emails to you? If so can you please post it, so that it can be picked up by the internet search engines, and will assist anyone else facing a similar position to be aware of these criminals.

Do not send any money; you will not see it again, nor will you see any puppy. And that, unfortunately, is 100% certain.

I was just scammed by the cameroon people and I should have known better but I didn't, I was talking to a person named Harry Shandy (Lewis, Markings) he goes by Harry84 or Rev Harry, he told me he was a minister and a very well known man and would do nothing illegal or fraud...I asked him how much the puppy was and he said I would only have to pay delivery fees so I sent him the 147 and then he said that wasn't good that they wanted insurance money on the puppy to be sent, so he told me they wanted 288 and he would pay the 138 since he wasn't aware of this fee, so I sent the 150 to get the puppy sent, well lil did I know he said now he didn't have the full 138 so he told me that I would have to send 50 well at this time I said no I had nothing more to send and I wanted a refund and I am done with this deal, he told me to not be hasty and to finish it up to get the puppy ...I told him no that I wanted all my money back and he said he would send me 100 in which I knew that would never happen, but now he is and has other ads on different papers like the yellow pages, and all you have to do is look for yorkieclub2008@yahoo.com and it will show the places he is trying to get other ppl at. So PLEASE be aware of him again he might go change his name and address but make sure to look very good into this whole pet thing. They are scandles and they dont' care about anyone but themselves...May god rest peace on the soles of a person saying they are acting for god..in which god doesn't do this to ppl. So of you "REV HARRY" may god put peace on your sole when you should die for all the hurt you have caused other ppl in their lives.

Although we found it too late ~ she had already sent her money to them via Western Union. {supposedly to the US Embassy in Cameroon}
which, of course, really made them sound legit. <sigh>

yes this has just happened to me as well i emailed about a english bulldog pup .
i stated to her that any good breeder would in fact let you see the puppys with the mother .
she got out of that by saying she was away of course .
i told her under no circumstances was i going to pay out any money on just the say so from her that i would e recieving my dog she then went on to give me her husbands name anthony bummel which when i looked up i come onto this site .
she told me if i sent £100.00 her husband would personally deliver my pooch .
i clicked on when she sent me a picture of a puppy with the name baby next to it but she was calling it a different name .
i quickly emailed back telling them they would be getting nothing from me at all and i think what they do is disgusting scamming innocent people :(

He answered questions so quickly and kept using the word "ok" at the end of every sentence..(which reminds me of a PP's scam artist). And no, you cannot charge the guy, he's in Cameroon Africa, out of jurisdiction and anonymous.

Thanks so much to this website because we were looking at backpage.com and found someone who had just moved and needed to give their English Bulldog puppy away. They wanted our info and to send their "baby" to a home in the US. They said they were from Rockford Illinois and she was pregnant. She said they were God-fearing and Christian. We were scammed before from someone last year in Washington state and so we were cautious this time about having a dog shipped. Thanks SOOOOO much for this website or we would have been scammed again. I gave "Rebeca Lorent" a piece of my mind and assured her that we would do everything we could to stop them from scamming Americans.

I did some research on the Western Union and found that you should NEVER use this across seas unless you know the people to prevent fraud. And let me just say that I am a full Christian and believe me I made that very clear to this "lady" and told her she is going to hell. Plain & simple, I am 19 years old and very vulnerable but also very protective when it comes to money and I will do everything I can to find out information, as I did in this situation. I'm glad I found this site because this completely made up my mind, but the stories were too fishy to believe in the first place. People: we need to check their grammar use, and read their messages out loud. If these would have been written by Americans we should be thinking "they need a computers/english class" and they put ok behind everything! I wish more people could find out about this but it is a scam, no jokes.

I wish I had dug deeper and found this sooner. My wife and I got scammed for an English Bulldog Puppy, the same ones listed above, the puppy named Dyson. They got us good, for about 800 dollars. First it was the supposed owner, this Rebeca Lorent, then to the supposed "airport" for an air-conditioned crate to ship him in that we would be able to get refunded when we got our puppy. They tried to get even more for supposed extra immunizations and care for the puppy, but by then I started digging online and found that it was completely fake, the e-mails, contract signed by someone named Nina Joyce, everything.

I'm concerned though now, we got more e-mails from them today saying that we were liable for paying the extra money for the dog, then I got a private phone call saying that if I didn't pay they would sue. Can anyone shed some light on this?

They can't sue anyone. These scumbags can only stay in their cybercafe rat hole and make empty threats.

These criminals have also made death threats to their victims. Just ignore them. Cut off all communications. Don't respond to their email, just delete them unread.

And when they call, simply hang up without discussing. The criminal cowards will eventually give up.

We paid the $150 that would pay for the plane ticket. We get an e-mail from the CHARLES DE GAULLE (CDG) - FRANCE AIRPORT FLIGHT stating that the pet insurance was expired and the crate wasn't ventilated enough according to policy. I should have looked to see if it was a fraud. The "lady" said they just moved to Camaroon from NY, but when I was looking for a puppy it was suppose to be from the AL area.

The email stopped. The fraud is now listing under a july2k email.

I just wish someone could find these people but I guess that's a long shot as well. Being sick & tired of seeing these ads pop on Craiglsist I decided to do something. I've had one Internet site shut down so far, reported a 2nd one. I'm also reporting the E-mail address they use to the hosting company/site
One site uses a GA, USA address - I'm unsure at this point if they have just "stolen" information from a legitimate site. They have a PayPal link on the site & I have reported the issue to PayPal
I'm waiting to hear back, but PayPal doesn't usually tell you what they do. But the user is usually booted. I have a background in IT & it pains me to see people scammed in this manner. As long as I find them posting locally I will continue to identify & shut them down

You can rest easy, they aren't real pups. If it's a typical scammer, (s)he has taken pictures from the internet to use in their scam.

The website is also set up by the/a scammer. Looks to be a pretty typical "pet shipper" site created to give the appearance of a "third party" that will ship the pet. The email address is a free mail.com domain, and the phone appears to be a mobile. Probably prepaid and anonymous.

We've said this several times in this and similar threads, but it probably bears repeating by now.

If you wish to adopt pets, your very best bet is to go to a local pet shelter. You can adopt a pet, often for free or very little cost. A pet who is in need of a home and may be under a death sentence if it doesn't find one. And it's possible to find pure-bred pets in shelters. Breeders sometimes dump the "excess stock" there when they become too expensive to feed, because breeders do need to make a profit. There are even breed-specific searches on http://www.adoptapet.com/

If you absolutely can't stand to adopt a pet without a specific breed, then at least find a reputable breeder or pet store that you can visit in person, to determine that the pet is a good fit for you and your family and that the pet has not been mistreated or bred in unsuitable conditions.

Bottom line, people do not just generously give away pets to total strangers in a foreign country when they could sell them for several hundred dollars. And a pet that is "free except for the shipping" is not free. Owners conscientious enough to give away a pet because they "don't have time for it" or (the other common excuse) "the local weather doesn't suit it" aren't likely to be willing to ship the same pet internationally to someone they don't even know.

I also found an offer for a "free" Yorkie from a lady who said she was in Fayetteville, AR. Once she emailed me, she was actually in Cameroon (just moved) and needed to give away several Yorkies. She just wanted me to pay for the airline ticket (allegedly only $200...you can't fly to Tulsa for that!) and the puppy would arrive with a crate, shots, micro-chip, etc.

PLEASE don't fall for this scam. I would hate to see someone send money to these people hoping to get a sweet little puppy and get ripped off. I am looking for a Yorkie for my 8 year-old daughter's birthday...if I had sent this money and had nothing to give her on her birthday, I would be crushed. And I'm sure that's exactly what these people have done to countless good families.

The name he/she is currently using is Desmond Dany and the email is frobacofarm@yahoo.com. But I'm sure they create a new email account every 5 minutes. Just please be careful and buy your puppy locally! :-)

Then I forward it to yahoo
Yahoo sends me an almost automated response that they don't have enough information, can't do anything. I basically reply that they are lying their butt off & allowing scammers to use their system. I let them know I will continue to E-mail them on a daily basis until they do something.
They now respond & shut the E-mail address off
I guess they fiure its more cost effective to shut down the scammer then keep replying to my e-mails :D

Of course it is not real. This is a very simple "Recovery" scam that typically follows a scam that results in the victim having paid. "cameroon.cc" is a FREE webmail provider owned by "gawab.com". There is no police department on the planet that would use such an account.

The request for money is a fraud, probably being operated by the same person that scammed you in the first place.

www.ukclassifieds.co.uk is chock full of scams. I am looking for a puppy and thought i had found three possible candidates. All said they are situated near leeds, but once i email, the story starts - they have moved to scotland. They use all the right words to make your heart melt and ask quetsions that make them seem worried for the safety of the puppy.
Here are the emails exchanged with a puppy owner, who ended up threatening my wife.

I live in Leeds with my husband and ten year old son. I work full time, whilst my partner stays home and takes care of my son. They both have plenty of time to devote to a new puppy. We have been looking for a shih tzu puppy for a long time, but had trouble finding one close by. We have both owned dogs before. They had started out as childhood pets and have gone now, simply because they were very old (my dog rosie died 2 years ago, she was 16 years old).

This is the 3rd time I have responded to an ad which says the seller is near Leeds (Wakefield in your case). Each time they have then told me that they live in Scotland, and will have to deliver the dog. I don't think I'm being paranoid when
I suspect that no puppy will ever arrive at my house after I part with my cash.I will report your ad to UKclasifieds as a scam.
It is disgraceful that people pray on animal lovers in this way.
Put your time to better use and take some English classes.

this guy is scum but not the worst. The first guy i mailed said he had recently lost his wife and son in a car accident. He needed to find a home for his puppy. When contacted, he also had moved to scotland. His ad was posted an hour before i contacted him - Quick!!!

Kinda off topic, but also during my search for a puppy I paid £2.99 to view ads posted on www.xbreeds.co.uk. When I tried to visit the classifieds section of the site, I couldn't because my anti-virus software went wild. This made the site useless. If anybody else has had this problem, it is worth knowing that i claimed a refund through Paypal. The owner of the site didn't object.

i was recently looking for an english bulldog puppy for adoption. i was looking through the classifieds online when i came across two seperate ads within the same classifeids offering english bulldogs for adoption. i was really excited, but in the back of my mind wondering why anyone would just give away english bulldogs when they sell for close to 1,000 dollars..i read both ads and replyed to them with email. i recieved both emails back and then realized they were probably scams bc both talked about cameroon thats how i knew it was to big of a coincidence. the first saying the moved to cameroon for a better paying job and could not give the puppies the attention and love that they needed..the second said they went there to help sick pregnant women..both told me i would only have to pay the shipping....the second email is as follows:

I remembered reading something about cameroom puppy scams when I was researching puppy mills, and decided to check it out. What unsettled me was the Subject:Fw: It was obviously forwarded to me, and I'm concerned this person might of already scammed someone. :(
