I recently bought an item off a chinese company called Chinavasion, but these refuse to stand by their warranty or answer emails. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you for the reminder about the site ethos... and it serves as a reminder about what we try do here. "provide support, guidance and assistance to victims of fraud".
As per the last post on this thread (http://www.fraudwatchers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=9045). The reason the thread was locked is simply because the company in question appears to be legitimate and non-fraudulent.
There is a difference between having a dispute and being defruaded. This site is about fraud.
However, in answer to your question: You should seek the guidance of a professional or legal representative if you have a dispute with the afore mentioned company.

Many thanks John Fairheart
My dealings with Chinavasion are about a $100 item, which I found defective, sent back, and now [URL="http://www.fraudwatchers.org/forums/showpost.php?p=41225&postcount=17"], I followed your advise and Chinavision remedied the problem

I assume your board's main function is to provide a forum where a large internet company, such as Chinavasion, would address a problem.
No. This boards main function is to warn internet users about various types of online frauds, plus giving information appertaining to potential risks when dealing with sales sites. We have no obligation or function which would see the company to which you hold a grievance to come here and post in their defence.
EBAY uses a self policing system similar to this board where complaints can be viewed.
EBay is a sales/auction site, Fraudwatchers is an information/advisory site. The differences within the internet genre, not to mention the law are vast.
I greatly appreciate this opprotunity, because the simple fact is I can't afford a $5,000 legal bill to chase down a $100 problem.
May I suggest raising issues with the appropriate trade organizations of your own country, and that of the company to which you hold a grievance.
If it comes to light that you have been 'DEFRAUDED' then we will be more than happy to post such. As it stands we have no evidence of that the company is fraudulent, as per my previous post and that of my colleague, Rob.

I've moved this thread to the appropriate forum.
PB,
As John Fairheart explained, Fraudwatchers does not provide dispute resolution services. On your original thread (now locked), another customer of Chinavision suggested a way of getting his dispute resolved. You might want to follow in his footsteps.

You might want to follow in his footsteps.
Yes, I did what you suggest, and also what the manager at Chinavasion contacted me and said he would resolve the problem. Thanks for the advice
Hi there, I bought this week some electronics from Chinavasion paying by PAYPAL. And after some days I receiver 3 emails from all their departments, to send them a scan of my ID card or driving licence, and my bank details - TO BE USED TO CHECK IF IM NOT A PAYPAL ACCOUNT THIEF
Well if they have my driving licence, and my PAYPAL password recovery question is "the last 4 characters of the driving licence" which in many cases is the same as your ID and my second pass recovery question is my father place of birth (in many cases equal as your present city). They will be able to get your pass. And if Paypal asks them to confirm your bank number (it is hidden), they will do everything they want.
Smart people heh!
SCAM SCAM SCAM
-----------------
I also bought 2 weeks before NIKON D80 from chinese http://www.cnsmar.com ( ALIBABA GOLD MEMBER ) and I received cellular phone instead. A good way to sell, isnt it? It is full on Alibaba with gold members to sell DSLR, but THERE IS NO ONE from China on Global Sources, so
Im not about to believe anymore to Alibaba (frauded 2 years ago 2 times from Indonesians and Malaysians too).
-----------------
And not all chinese companies are bad, Im tradind successfuly with some since 2004, so just bad Alibaba luck...

That's a pretty long shot... if you're worried you can always change the PayPal questions to something else?
I'm sure that Chinavasion is a legitimate company and not a scam. PayPal scams from buyers is a common and very real problem for some companies.

Just be warned.
I purchased one item it was missing the incorrect powerpoint plug.
I sold a number of small portable TV's which nothing stopped me from buying but don't work in Australia.
After I purchased and had complaints I spoke with support online and they advised yes they don't work in Australia only in some states or places. This information should be visible on the product page where the item is being sold from and I was informed this info needs to be updated.
The other thing is these were sent by the company staff knowing the issues around this. If you are dropshipping and making $40 per item just do your maths and work it out if its worth doing.
Once an item is shipped from china you loose the $30 or so in shipping so you don't have any room to play around with and if you return these items re in my case item does not work in Aus you loose the $30 that was initially paid plus I need to pay the shipping cost sending the item back.
So lets do some maths.
1 TV was purchased and paid $35 in shipping.
On the sales page it states nothing about where the item will work however support online have the answer.
Once its shipped to my customer sold and returned I pay another $30 shipping sending it back.
So by buying this item and it not working and needs to be sent back I am out of pocket by at least $60. Is it worth the dramas? No.
Just be warned.

There doesn't seem to be any such thing as a "powerpoint plug". Do you perhaps mean the power adapter?

Particularly :
Read the item description carefully! We will ship you whatever you order. Although we do assist you by manually checking all orders to screen possible region / compatibility inconsistencies, we do not accept returns of healthy products which were simply mis-ordered by you. If you are in an NTSC video color region, don't order PAL products for your market. Check if your locality has free DVB-T broadcasts before buying DVB-T digital TV receivers. If the driver's seat is on the left, don't order left side passenger sun visor Car DVD Monitors!

Is this the same issue as the plug, or a totally unrelated one? This sounds more like you ordered a product for which service is unavailable. As is described in the disclaimer from the website.
On the sales page it states nothing about where the item will work however support online have the answer.
Was there something preventing you from contacting support or sales directly and asking them point blank if the item would work in your area before making the purchase?
Similarly, I can go online to Amazon.co.uk and order all the PAL DVDs I like and have them shipped to me in America. They'll quite happily sell me a product that won't work with most of the standard DVD players and televisions on my continent. In fact, I was able to put one in my cart and pick my USA shipping address without so much as a warning that it wouldn't work.
It's not the vendor's responsibility to keep you from buying something that won't work in your location. Asking questions before you order, if you are unsure, is very important. Especially if, as you state, you are working on thin profit margins.

Chinavasion sells bad quality products and has dishonest staff.
I've bought a total of 5 items from them. Total USD 235 Normal Shipping USD 47.
2 of the items were Spoilt on arrival- an mp3 player($9.83 USD) and a Wireless Headphone + Transmitter Set($19.62 USD). Truly Disappointing. After using this 2.4GHz Wireless Mobile AV Recorder($125.23 USD) for less then 10 times it failed. No matter how i hard reset the item it still wouldn't work. So it was a total of 3 items spoilt.
I contacted customer service and they tried to help solve the problem via email exchanges and finally agreed to take back the item for repair or refund.
So I filled up the RMA form and got it sent to Shenzen, China to their warehouse. A month later they received it but claimed only the mp3 player($9.83 USD) and a Wireless Headphone + Transmitter Set($19.62 USD) is found in the package and it was perfectly sealed. My 2.4GHz Wireless Mobile AV Recorder($125.23 USD) is not in it.
They offered a refund for the 2 items but not for the 2.4GHz Wireless Mobile AV Recorder which coincidentally happens to be the Costliest. After a few emails exchange i finally gave up but would like to warn the rest about this company.
1. Chinavasion has poor manufacturing standards.
2. Their Quality Check is NON-EXISTENT. (Despite them claiming) How Could i possibly have 2 products spoilt on arrival?
3. Chinavasion is a dishonest company. I have Double Checked my package before sealing it with many layers of tape and when it reached them only this 2 low cost products are claimed to be received on their end. I've already paid $35 to ship this back just because their "Quality Check" failed.
Please if you read this, seriously consider avoiding them. I hope this post will help many other forumers from getting ripped off from CHINAVASION.COM

There's a saying, often bandied about in computer programming circles.
Fast, good, or cheap. Pick two, because that's all you can have.
Well known retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers don't charge higher prices just because they can. Some of the higher price you're paying is for the intangible customer service and quality assurance. A seller can't offer free returns if they're barely eking out a profit over the cost of manufacture. It can't be terribly surprising that extremely cheap products are often extremely cheap because the manufacturer cuts back on advertising, quality checks, research and development and quality of components.
As for the second point, even major manufacturers and retailers have bad lots that make it past initial quality testing. My department had a bad run with Dell slimline computers for about a year. They failed at a greater than 50% rate over the first twelve months, thanks to some bad parts from suppliers and a design that tended to bring on the failure of these bad parts rather quickly. They failed under warranty and we were shipped replacements quite quickly and at no additional cost to us, but after a while, the manpower costs and downtime made us take a short break from Dell as a vendor. We've recently returned to them and have had excellent luck, just as we did before this batch of bad computers.
For that matter, the third point is leaping to conclusions somewhat, too. If you shipped it internationally, there's a good chance it went through Customs and was opened for inspection before arriving back with the company. It's equally likely (and just as much blind speculation) that the item may have become lost or stolen at Customs, or for that matter, anywhere along the route as it was handled by shippers. Yes, it's possible the item was received and, either by accident or on purpose, you weren't reimbursed for it. But it's just as likely that any of the above happened.
FRAUD is the other name for CHINAVASION i could say, i purchased a product from chinavasion believing that it might be a trustful website as one of the leading magazine published some products from this site. i received mails regarding different new offer but not for the product which i ordered. when i logged on to the chinavasion website it gave me a tracking number and also tried to find that and it showed that the product is sent out. its been 20days and still waiting on the product, the official delivery time is 12days even i didnt receive invoice. i sent an email to the support team and replied with the same old link which is on the website itself. so my dear friends i advise not to buy any products from this site and lose your money.

Hi I just received my wireless media player from Chinavison. I ordered it 5 days ago and it arrived. everything was in the box. I had to pay an extra $12.33 cents for duty. I am amazed that some people are having a hard time with Chinavison. I got a tracking number though DHL and it was fast delivery. everything came in the box. remote wires power supply. they do need to know your power supply socket type so that is something to note when u buy off them. I will give a review of the media player when i hook it up but so far i can say that in CANADA at least they are prompt.

Muffy, are you referring to ChinavAsion or ChiniavIsion? Those are two different names. The rest of this thread is about ChinavAsion.
