Please read this carefully! This scammer poses as a representative of the Scotland International Lottery agent. What they do is tell you that you don't send any money and they pay all the charges for sending you the winning check. Within minutes, you'll get an e-mail from the border patrol telling you the check was caught in customs and you need to send $15,000 US cash to pay taxes to get your check.
If you don't send the money, you'll get another e-mail from Mr. Carrick stating that they had to retrieve your winnings, but put them in an offshore bank in your name, and then they ask for your private banking details to transfer the funds as they cannot afford to pay the taxes for you.
This is a pretty elaborate scam to steal your identity. Read below for the second e-mail I received and checked against fraud alert to confirm that it is indeed a scam.

AFTER ALL NEGOTIATION FAILED WITH THE BRITISH AUTHORITIES, WE WERE LEFT WITH NO OPTION THAN TO RETRIEVE YOUR WINNING CHEQUE FROM THE BRITISH INLAND REV & CUSTOMS, AND WE HAD TO RETURN THE CHEQUE TO THE ISSUING BANK(CLYDESDALE BANK PLC).
SUBSEQUENTLY, THE CLYDESDALE BANK HAS ACTIVATED AND CLEARED YOUR WINNING CHEQUE OF 1.5 MILLION POUNDS AND IT'S NOW BEEN DEPOSITED IN AN OFFSHORE ACCOUNT IN YOUR NAME AS THE BENEFICIARY FOR FURTHER TRANSFER TO YOUR DESIGNATED ACCOUNT
PLEASE SEND YOUR COMPLETE BANKING INFORMATION , SO THAT THE CLYDESDALE BANK WOULD INPUT YOUR ACCOUNT DETAILS AND TRANSFER YOUR WINNINGS PROMPTLY.
