Nigerian Scam?

I have received an email, supposedly from the Rolls Royce Centenary Promotions Secretary, advising me of a large win in some draw that they have carried out. They advise me to contact HSBC Bank at +447023052957 for processing information. The sum of money is huge, this must be a scam?

What I can tell you is that the phone number that you posted is a special type of redirect phone number which allows phone calls to be diverted to anywhere in the world. So you may think that by calling that number you are calling the UK, but in reality, your phone call could be diverted to another country. Calling this special phone number will be quite expensive compared to calling a normal UK landline.

Here is also another one that I received the very first one, and I was stupid,and they sent me a check because I could not pay there fees and I was in need of this money so I did cash it and the only thing is instead of me sending it Western Union I got a cashiers check and sent it but they can not cash it so they sent it back and since then the check they gave me in the first place which is a chargedback but I still have the cashiers check here is there info:they said if I could cash this check I wouldnt have to worry about the Neg. balance in my account.ATTN:WINNER xxxxx

No, it's not real, it's a lottery scam. They use free, anonymous Yahoo email addresses, and they ask for fees to be paid. No legitimate lottery would do that.

There's no such thing as an email lottery, so if you get any other emails telling you that you've won one, please just delete them. They're guaranteed to be scams.

This is NOT the real thing. It is a scam.

Do not send any money.

Under NO circumstances should you consider going to Nigeria to meet these criminals. You need to understand that Nigeria is not Ohio. It is essentially lawless, with armed criminal gangs doing whatever they want. On several occasions, people going to Nigeria have been kidnapped, forced to hand over all their own money, and then ransomed back to their families.

Some evidence of the scam...


Yahoo email addresses... real companies do not use them.

+44 750 239 2127 is a mobile, no doubt prepaid and anonymous.

If you read the Securital website, you'll see they are an alarm monitoring company, not a Courier service.

Use of Western Union... no real company would even suggest it.

Both "Barrister Ole-Bjorn Tellesfen" and "DR.OLIVERA ERICCSON Ph.D" write more like semi-literate Nigerians than educated people living in England.

No lotteries notify their winners by email.

These are the emails I have received over the last week. I am skeptical at least. It asks for a very large amount of money to receive my 'winnings' from a courier service in Nigeria. I have followed all steps they've requested me to, in hopes that it was real. When it came to the money I needed to wire, I had doubts. Trusted it because it was from Myspace Tom. I sent my personal information to these people, am I in a pickle now? Perhaps I am a severe doubting thomas, but I suspect foul play. Can you do anything about this? I just hope this information will be of help to you to assist in maybe stopping this form of fraud. Please let me know. Thank you.
